Can we please have a REAL social playlist?

This Social Slayer playlist is ridiculous. Because of the hidden ranks, I’m being put up against people who are Onyx and Champion. What’s the point of having it if I’m going to have to try hard every game anyways?

Social should be completely random. I want to actually relax when playing this game, not sweat through 5 pairs of pants every time.

Edit:

I’m fine with being randomly put against players of equal or higher rank, but having to play against them every game defeats the purpose of having a social playlist. If I wanted to sweat every game, I’d go play ranked FFA or something.

Edit:

I don’t care if kills/death, wins/losses, etc are tracked, in fact for Social they shouldn’t be tracked. Just because I’m an Onyx player doesn’t mean I want to try my heart out every game.

Read as: I want to stomp on some noobs, 343, let me play against bronzes!

They’ll play anyway, and even if they remove hidden ranks what’s to stop you being matched with them ?

Thats the point, its supposed to be random not guaranteed sweats every single game

At first, they had it so people were playing against others of similar skill. Everyone complained that matches were too sweaty. Now they change it so the matches can be against a wider skill range of people, and because of that some people are getting stomped. Thats how it goes. Either the matches are going to be sweaty, or you are going to end up in matches where sometimes people get stomped. Cant have it both ways. Stop complaining.

The solution is to completely remove Social from Arena and create a separate Social playlist lobby menu.
Then have no stat tracking tied to the Social experience, so no K/D, no W/L, no visible ranks, no commendations, etc. (other than post match stats and medals)
Still have hidden ranks so that matches are somewhat fair and balanced.
That would establish Social separately existing in a vacuum made just for messing around and having dumb fun.
Then bring back things like Action Sack.
Also If 343i was going to go the extra mile they could add a daily Social match completion pack (not a win one, essentially a participation award pack for completing a full match start to finish).

Its not either or though. It is only sweats. 2 games, then to5s sweating.

Yeah, I gotta say, I’m not sure who asked for this. Okay, so we have been asking for more social playlists, but your weekend/weekly playlist should be something out of the ordinary. Only covenant weapons, low gravity and ground pound only, even nontraditional things like obstacle courses would be nice. But I look at this and my first thought is "oh joy, I can do the same thing I always do, but with two extra players exposing the crappy spawns and being subject to JIP.

But maybe I’m just bitter that fiesta is gone since I was making pretty good progress on my commendations.

hi, i dont mean to flame at you. but i did see that you are an onyx.

can you please explain why you think it is unfair for you to be matched with onyx and champion players?

I played one social game because i got matched against bronze and gold players. I felt bad so i went back to getting stomped on in ranked games lol.
People trying to enjoy the game and im over here ruining it for them .

As far as ranked games are concerned, I 100% agree that I should play against people of similar skill every game. I am only referring to the “SOCIAL” playlist. The teams should be COMPLETELY RANDOM, where I could potentially play against people of ANY skill bracket. That includes people much higher ranked than me too!
I just don’t see the point in having a “SOCIAL” playlist where I’m going to have to try just as hard to win a game as I would in a ranked playlist. It seems to defeat the purpose of the “SOCIAL” playlist altogether.

So… how do you think non-onyx players would feel being matched up against you? Sorry, the logic is simply not here. Social does not mean random. There’s a wide range of skill levels. That would make no sense.

The purpose of a SOCIAL playlist is to allow you to play with all your friends spanning various skill levels WITHOUT worrying about your stats. What you are suggesting would defeat the purpose of the “SOCIAL” playlist altogether.

you used the term “sweat”. this proves that you as an onyx player, you want to get into social playlist and get easy kills with bronze players, you mentioning that includes higher ranked players but is redundant.

the whole purpose of this thread is that you don’t want to have to sweat in social playlist right? well if you matched up with lower rank players would that not make them sweat? At this point you are being a bit unfair.

I personally understand an occasional sweaty match or two in a Social playlist here or there. It happens. This seems like more than just that, though. I played four or five Big Team Battle matches this evening; just wanted to get my Arena win and check out some of the new adjustments made to community maps.

My team got wrecked all four or five games. For one thing, every single game was an objective game type, so each match went very close to the full sixteen minutes (sad since I only had a little while to play and I wanted to also snag my Warzone win). Enemy teams would even get into farming at the ends of some of the matches. What made me even more mad, though, was that I only got to play one of the new maps, the Sandtrap remake. First game, Basin. Second game, Guillotine. Really??? Third game, Recurve. Yup… Fourth game, Deadlock. Finally a map that at least looks different. Fifth map, finally, the Sandtrap remake whose name I can’t remember. Seriously, though. Got stomped all five of these matches. They were very sweaty. Had to finally just hop into Grifball for a quick win, as I had already played longer than originally planned just getting whooped in Big Team matches.

A social playlist is only social if you make it. It’s your choice whether to go super hard-core or not. I make the choice to relax and generally just mess about in them with friends (that is what social playlists are for). For example, we might try and get only Snapshots with the sniper or see who can get closest to jumping across Coliseum. When I play a competitive, that’s when I go hard-core.

Hhaha yup!

im sick to death of these ‘why are social matches just as hard as ranked’ posts…

it just says alot of their skill level when all other gamemodes are hard for them, so they require the need to play against bad players to enjoy game…

The solution is don’t play social variants of ranked gametypes, it never really works or is really that enjoyable. People will always try to win no matter what, its in peoples DNA it cant be changed or altered.

You’ve missed the whole point of the social playlists.
Ranked playlists are about playing to win, beat the other team, rank up.

Social playlists are about playing without the pressure of dropping ranks if you lose.
It’s meant for enjoyment, or warming up before you play the ranked playlists, or when you want to play but you know you’re not at your best because you’re tired, or had a few drinks etc.
Obviously it’s always nicer to win than to lose, but the whole point is being able to shrug and say ‘oh well’ if you get owned by the other team, and continue having a good time.

The matchmaking still needs to balance the skill of the players; if you are onyx you need to be playing against higher level players, and even if they are ‘sweaty’ you should still be able to compete, get some kills, and have a good time whether you win or lose.

If it was completely random then lower tier players would be getting stomped by higher tier players.
While the point is to be able to have fun whether you win or lose, it’s not fun to be slaughtered with little hope of even getting a kill.

It seems like you need to separate enjoying the game and winning. If you can’t have fun if you don’t win, in playlists where winning has intentionally been made irrelevant then you are unfortunate.

They’ve loosened the rankings for social playlists now and it made a big improvement imo.
