Why is Black never an available colour for armour in Halo? I really want to have a black spartan but it’s never an available colour?
Surely it can’t be a racism thing, because then we should take out White as well.
Some people might argue that having an all black spartan could help hide a spartan too much, but you could use the same argument for white Spartans in snow.
The reasoning used to be that it would make it too easy for players to hide in shadows. Completely disregarding the fact that there are next to 0 spots on all Halo maps total that actually provide dark enough of a location to pull that off.
It was in Halo CE and the Reach Beta, who knows when it will come back.

Next all white armour colours will be removed due to arctic maps givng them an advantage.

It was never an issue in Halo CE, and frankly if they are going to follow that logic they might as well ban white (arctic maps), green (grassy maps), orange (canyon maps), etc. All of those maps are vastly more prevalent than dark maps are.
It was even less of an issue in Halo CE when you consider that, back then, the only visor color you could use was “here is my face, come shoot me”-orange.

Still better than the sea of purple-green spartans. Sometimes I miss the days where your spartan was one solid color.
At least purple-green color combo was a upbeat color combo.
Everytime I see a person in Black/red color I can predict what weapon their going to use (EX. Gets into lobby, see’s a Black/Red Spartan hm… DMR or BR, I check it and i’m right. Go to a person in greenish or any other bright colored armor, Carbine or light rifle or something unique)
I feel like people who go for nothing but black just think their “Hardcore” or “B.A’s” idk
I suspect it was removed for two reasons: it is one of the easiest colors to blend into the background (not necessarily shadows). Also, it was hands down the most popular choice in CE, making anyone who picked a different color stand out all the more. There was some kind of parity logic going on with its removal.
As long as they make the undersuit black I’ll be happy. Just so long as they never bring back Halo 4’s hot coloring scheme and extra bright shininess.

Most people still pick steel anyway and not offering them black it kind of just being awkward, if they black was matte it would be black but shiny enough to help it stand out.

I agree, I was only trying to guess why Black hasn’t been an option since 2004 or whenever. Bringing back Black armor is probably the one thing 95% of everyone on these forums can agree on

What do you predict when you look at me? (No service record peeking, that’s cheating!)

I agree that we need a full color wheel, maybe blocking some of the more muted colors that would make players hard to spot.
As a side note, secondary colors should be visible in team games. If your secondary color is the opposite of the team you’re playing on, it would be switched to white to avoid confusion.

Yeah but why not its easily implemented. So why shouldnt we ask for it. Maybe we shouldnt ask for a campaign since we wont be playing it as much as multiplayer?

There is NO REASON to give a player an advantage.
Black = Shadow plain and simple.
Grey is already at times hard to see on maps, we don’t need a solid black.
and side note: I haven’t played Halo fro the campaign in over 10 years. So yes, they could leave it out and Halo would still be popular if the MM was competitive and provided balanced matches.
