Can We Just All Agree...

Can we all just agree that Regicide is not an objective gametype. It doesn’t belong in the Objective playlist. It’s even more annoying because everyone treats like an objective gametype. Here’s the plot twist: you don’t actually need to kill the king. It is basically slayer, guys. So stop rushing the King, protect your king, and if you are the King, learn to play conservative. You’re already a walking target as it is.

Renamed VIP, it would be considered an objective gametype wouldnt it?

> Renamed VIP, it would be considered an objective gametype wouldnt it?

No, VIP you only get points for killing the VIP. In regicide, you get EXTRA points for killing the King. You don’t have to kill him.

The objective is to become the King and maintain being the king or to kill the king to become the king. It’s definitely an objective gametype.

Sounds like this makes it an objective gametype. Yes you can win without playing the objective but that can easily be changed by tweaking the settings to be VIP.

Can some one explain to me how to turn regicide into VIP? In VIP some starts as the VIP, but in regicide you aren’t the king until you are leading in points, so there has to be another way to score besides killing the king. Do you just make regular kills worth 1 point and make regicide a worth 50 points to encourage everyone to just go after the king? How’s that work?

Without looking at the options I do not think you can recreate VIP exactly.

My advice for VIP

Kills 1pt

King Kills 20 pts

Play to 100

This would allow someone to become king by getting the first kill and killing the king would be very important. Thing to watch for would be running in to get kills and becoming the king at the beginning. I do not know if there is a way to hold of on becoming king until after you respawn

It’s a fine line between slayer and objective. The whole defending your king while seeking out theres gives it an objective flavor that is difficult to ignore.

Heck, why not include it in both slayer and objective hoppers?

Yes. It is more of a slayer gametype than an objective gametype.

It sucks compared to VIP, that’s all that matters.

I don’t think it would work. The beginning of each game would just be horrible.

In options you can reduce the amount of bounties the King is worth.

I believe Team Regicide is a very objective based game mode since you need to protect your kin, as well as kill theirs. FFA Regicide not so much.

I think this would work fine if there was an option to disable king switching/assigning until you respawned

if it was a slayer gametype i wud of won 99 percent of my regicide games. its definately about them king kills

> I think this would work fine if there was an option to disable king switching/assigning until you respawned

Yes I just quoted myself.

If this change was possible I think it would make Team Regicide better than VIP with the right settings.

Person could run in and kill as many people as possible, die and now be king. If you kill the king and die you are most likely going to be king next. So your team knows to protect you when you respawn.

If Team Regicide got rid of the random king swapping without the king dying I think it would be much better

I agree…
It is a variant of the Slayer gametype.

VIP is way better than Team regicide. Killing strictly the king will “guarantee” you the win. People don’t care about the king as much as before now that they don’t have rely on him.

It was good gameplay trying to actually protect the king. Also, the king started with OS, so they don’t have to be alive for like 30 secs to get it…

definitely?

Killing the king is not your objective because you can win the game without killing the king at all. Becoming the king is not the objective either, it is simply a side-effect of your true objective which is to get kills.

Oh and scoring more points for killing the the person who currently has the highest score is a custom game option (of the slayer gametype) found in previous versions of halo.

I go after the king to prevent that player from getting a reign of terror.
