Since it’s apparent that cheaters found a way to you know, cheat even though 343i hindered PC players by removing the red reticle, can we have it back now?
As for the cheating, maybe invest in an anti-cheat instead of stripping features from select groups.
Agreed, It was a weak excuse for having it disabled on PC in the first place, we all knew it would do literally nothing, I mean, there were cheats developed and ready when they did the Flights. Not to mention they already selectively have RR on for weapons like the Pulse Carbine because the gun basically requires that you have that visual indicator.
was literally just about to write a thread with the exact same name before the system informed me this existed, lol.
I can’t agree enough. Removing a core visual cue that players have been using for years (even on PC, people have been using it since 2003) to tell where their effective range is, has been detrimental to gameplay.
I have legitimately no idea how far away I need to be standing from someone to know when I can spam fire the pistol and all my shots will land.
I have no idea whether or not I need to be enabling zoom on my BR in mid-range engagements.
I’ve never even SEEN the range that the Commando uses, because I play on PC and therefore haven’t got even a remote idea how far away I need to be for it to receive magnetism bonuses.
To salt the wound, I won’t know if I’m slightly off axis for a shot to get a magnetism bonus or not. This kind of “click or not click” matters greatly for snipers.
The more I switch back and forth between MCC and Infinite really drives home how important this is for moment-to-moment decision making. Whether to disengage and let them approach, or press my advantage. If they step out, whether to pursue, scope in, or press another fight/angle all together.
Justifying it’s removal as an Anti-cheat measure is like adding aggressively bad DRM into a game that hurts the performance. It punishes the real players, while the people who will circumvent it will do so anyways, and have a better experience regardless.
Seriously. I know Controller vs KBM is a hot debate right now, but this alone could help PC players of all varieties a ton. PLEASE give us our reticle ranges back. It’s core gameplay information that matters, and something a lot of newer players won’t even realize is as important as it is.
This change just doesn’t make sense. They are just choosing to handicap a group of players for using their preferred control method. It’s already hard enough to out shoot a skilled controller player do to the aim asset, no need to remove crucial information from every gun in the game (except 1).
I agree completely with this change idea - with both changes to the sandbox, and key weapon tips like “weapon range” put on the weapon pickup, having a marker to denote effective range is crucial to the core gameplay experience.
I’m sure it was already said in previous postings, but…
All weapons have an effective range that is displayed via tooltip when you stop and pickup that weapon. However, there is nothing to assist what this effective range is. “close” “mid” and “long” ranges mean little when we don’t know when a “mid” weapon stops being effective. With the red reticule and effective range on-screen, we can make those decisions actively mid-firefight. Does a BR lose range after 15m? How far away does an enemy have to be before the downward arc of a skewer shot starts to matter?
Why punish the entire fanbase for the poor decisions of a few bad actors? That’s why the Banhammer was invented and used readily against people with poor sportsmanship.
I feel the same way. With how good controller is it just feels insulting taking red reticle away on MKB, especially since it doesn’t stop the cheaters. It’s unbalanced and doesn’t let Keyboard players learn how they can better use the guns since they are missing what has been a key point of information in the past.
It’s there but only on the weapons that absolutely require it to work. Thing is as others are pointing out the Red reticle is still highly important at more skilled levels of play on all weapons as it informs you of when your getting bullet magnetism or not. So removing this from most weapons on PC is definitely one of their more bone headed decisions. Especially since they also decided it was a good idea to just make all enemies glow bright red at all times. So any aimbot that would use that information has even better info to use lol.
Yeah they should have never removed it. Now that cheaters can cheat without it then they should bring it back without a question. I like seeing my cursor turn red on enemies. It’s weird when it doesn’t.
