Too many times i’ve played snipers on Hemmorage, camping with on e or two others, only to have my head blown off, and only i can see the enemy. Then the enemy gets an easy double/triple.
I would like a system that’s like in Gears 3, you aim at them and press the button and a waypoint appears above them for a few seconds. It could also work on weapons, objectives, and even on vehicles and passenger seats, to try to get a sense of teamwork back.
Or if that is gamebreaking (as you could spot the enemy and have all 3/4 team mates shoot at them) how about you can choose to spot them once you’ve died, like a real “one shot on my x” as they would be painted for a few seconds. at least this way campers wouldn’t be able to get in a glitched part of the map and remain immortal as all the noobs don’t know how to play.
I spotting system could work if done right, and it could be a great way to communicate something to a team even while in party chat. And depending how it is programmed there could be a way to do it without without a button press. Something like keeping your crosshairs over an enemy for a couple seconds could put a small temporary marker over them that your team could see while you are looking at them. A sniper could in a sense also function as a spotter for his teammates while they hang back.
> The only reason this works in Battlefield and Gears is because those aren’t really supposed to be balanced games. It just wouldn’t work in Halo, and there’s really no need for it.
…I can understand the BattleField series, but… Gears? What?
I think pressing a button is faster than trying to tell someone to locate an enemy. It’s not really necessary but will come useful in certain situations.
No, god please no. I’ve had enough of the easy mode additions that Reach provided, for something like this to further ruin halo.
3D spotting is probably one of the gayest things in BF3.
It most certainly is. Calling out targets and objectives was commonplace in Halo 2. Communication has steadily gotten worse with every release due to an influx of new population along with party chat. A new system such as this would only reintroduce what the game has been sorely lacking.

It’s more practical too. What if your teammates don’t understand English? What if they’re in party chat? What if they mute people by default?
If there’s a waypoint over the guy’s head, there’s really no margin for error.
I don’t know about you guys, but I rarely (if ever) find people with mics. Those that do have them are six years old. What we really need is an overhaul of the Psyche profile
While I definitely agree that your mic + callouts are the spotting feature, not to mention the possibility of them being spammed at random things, there are those who can’t understand what they’re teammates are saying, if they’re saying anything at all.
Kinda off-topic, but this feature reminds me of how you can indicate things for your teammates in Halo Wars!
I really, really, really hope that they imply some sort of a spotting system into the beta(if there is one) because i’ve played alot of games where there great to help to communicate enemy locations even when everyone’s in party chat and I would like to see if it would work well in a Halo game.
