Can we get some word on what changes are being worked on?

I understand it’s probably really busy over there at 343i at the moment. It would be nice to hear some sort of plan on what changes are in the works. To know that people’s complaints are being heard, and just to hear what 343i’s data is showing.

While I’m enjoying the game there is a boatload of valid complaints and wishes that have been mentioned on this forum by many players, It’d be nice to hear what we can expect and what is seen as issues to 343i and what they think of the feedback received thus far.

Yes! I am so thankful that 343 have been transparent about their changes thus far, but I want M O R E
It almost makes me wish I was a game developer so I had some idea of how difficult it is to make community-requested changes. Obviously it is harder than we think it is.

They’ve already acknowledged one major issue (the challenges and BP progression), and have came right out and said it will continue to be monitored and tweaked to get it right. All within 4 days.

What level of reporting are you looking for here? Navigating the forums for tangible feedback metrics would be a fulltime job for 5 people. I think weekly is about as good as we can demand, unless it’s regarding a game breaking issue.

Keep in mind also as much of ths game is still in beta there may be a lot of things that are already subject to change and it’s just an issue of waiting for patch notes and the actual retail launch.

I’m not a game developer but I did intern as one and am now a computer engineer elsewhere so I can kind of speak to it to maybe give some insight.

In short, implementing changes can range from a day to months. But even if something only takes a day to implement in an obvious way, the side effects of that change could be widespread so there may be a lot of design involved to fix it “properly”.

I guess one way to think about it is this. Imagine you have a 1 million word story book, written by multiple people, with each person contributing different parts of an intertwining plot. Now imagine a read doesn’t like some aspect of your story. Sure, you might just be able to spit out a paragraph that satisfies that request directly but then it might invalidate the entire rest of your story - like your game crashing or not being fun/fair after a hotfix - look at all the games that nerf weapons with the side effect of that weapon no longer having a fun or rewarding place in the sandbox.

So you usually cant just slap together additive paragraphs. What do you need to do? You need to have an general understanding of the plot (or the game design) and you need to know the best place to add the addition - you wouldn’t add it before the character is introduced to the story for example, or after they are killed - you also wouldn’t add it in the middle of an unrelated plot point, you’d lose the flow.

Instead you need to find the right spot and the right wording to keep the rest of the 1million words sane as a consistent plot.

Maybe it’s a convoluted analogy but hopefully it helps!

Much like Halo 5 dont expect a semi decent game until like 3 years in. The question remains; “Can Infinite survive that long?” We all know H5 lost traction fast because of its bare boned state, reguardless if you were a fan of its multiplayer or not.
