When if any actual Multiplayer PvE content coming?
I’m tired of playing Call of Duty: Combat Evolved.
There’s no firefight, no spartan ops, what plans are there except trying to make this another gated esports title? Because I’m not seeing one.
This whole “Oh but look at the cutscene…” is inexecusable plain & simple. The only thing to follow the cutscene is a mission in spartan ops. Currently, I’d wager 343 is only catering to less that 15% of it’s player base.
I wouldn’t mind Fire fight, from what I’ve been told it is coming, just not now.
There is a Team Vs Bots mode, but the AI is very underwelming. Both being Marine AI that can be easily trampled by a single person and definitely lacking in a lot of ways ( they don’t use vehicles or even hijack for instance ). I just uploaded a video of me dominating a team of bots with my team just sitting on a Warthog turret for 2 minutes.

It’s more or less a time killer at most, which is why I was playing it.
You think PvE in the halo franchise would be a larger player base than 15%? Literal LOL. Also this isn’t Call of Duty: Combat Evolved - that was halo 4.
They aren’t catering to the group you think they are anyway. Pro players aren’t happy with length between events, removal of skill jumps and sliding, the handling of the melee / mangler nerf. I’d imagine you aren’t going to get PvE oriented game modes until we have all the staple game modes, forge and campaign coop at the earliest, probably a year out best case scenario, probably more like 2 years in 343 time.
I really hope they bring some MP PvE content to the game. I’m sure it won’t be during Season 2, and Season 3 is iffy as well given their current development struggles, but nonetheless - I prefer Halo as a PvE experience and I really, really hope Infinite gets that type of content.
Yeah, Firefight is the most baffling one. It seems like it’d be dumb easy to just put enemy AI spawns onto multiplayer maps and let people have a ball.
PVE has technically been a staple since halo reach since it was in halo 3 odst, halo reach, halo 4 at launch and was in halo 5 but Im not sure if it launched with it or not
IMO, part of the issue is probably with the split between the base MP game and the campaign. I’m willing to bet all the Banished enemy model and AI assets are tied to the campaign and not included in the MP download. Not sure how much effort it would take to move that data to the MP portion and make the game aware of it.
Halo multiplayer is secondary to campaign. Halo is a campaign game. Multiplayer is just a side feature. If you don’t realize that you have a backwards view of halo. I would be very surprised if only 10% of the population likes pve and campaign like you’re supposing.
I’m a PvE-first Halo fan who’s been lamenting (often very vocally) the absence of a true Firefight mode in every new Halo game released since 2012 (SpOps and Warzone FF were decidedly not real replacements for the classic arcade survival Firefight experience presented in ODST and Reach).
I was disappointed (but not surprised) to learn that Infinite wasn’t going to feature any PvE modes apart from the campaign at launch, and even more upset when it became clear that the replayability for the campaign was so poor (no mission select) and that there weren’t any campaign challenges implemented. S2 was also a letdown on this as it hasn’t added or addressed anything on the PvE side of things.
All that stuff’s a big deal for me, and I’m definitely hoping that 343i adds more meat to the PvE side of the game ASAP. It’ll make the game a much better experience for my tastes.
That said, you’re totally kidding yourself if you think anything near 85% of the player base is clamoring for this stuff. I expect the inverse is a lot more accurate; the fact is that most FPS players in general don’t care at all for narrative and PvE experiences and are really only there for the PvP. Halo fans in general have a bit more use for the story mode and PvE sandbox than most other shooters, but at the end of the day those of us who desperately want to see this stuff in the game remain a vocal minority.
We’re talking about halo fans, not FPS fans. The broader audience marketing campaign certainly doesn’t need to worry about roping them into the lore, but that appears to have largely failed.
Hope we get Firefight at some point, but the campaign content needs to be expanded and improved first, to create the basis for that.
Right now, with how the campaign only has 1 biome, 1 enemy faction, 1 new enemy type, and no new vehicles, if they added Firefight it might feel pretty boring.
I feel like Firefight is just a no brainer at some point. It’s an amazing mode, and I hope they’re secretly working on an improved version with all kinds of bells and whistles to make it even better.
