With the realease of June leaders we will have seven leaders for UNSC and five for Banished, which I think it’s a good number to have variety on a team and shouldn’t be any need of using dupes.
One of the problems with dupes is that they limit the viable strategies due the exclusive units, these should make dupes really easy to beat, however, the people who use them seemingly rely too much on leader powers. When the game started, I noticed plenty of Atriox teams that could expand easily, over exploited his inmunity powers and demolished bases just with Erradication, then we’ve got Kinsano and with her the multi-Turret rush (it was a problem even with a single Kinsano) and multi-Inferno, now it’s Colony with multi-hunter brand. While most of the powers above don’t appear to be OP alone and can be avoided, many of them are very difficult to evade and deal a lot of damage to any army. I also have the concern than one of the future leaders could be broken at launch, then there’ll be many trying to exploit that and would be surely easier to deal with one single broken leader than with a whole team of them.
so you want to make it so people can’t potentially play who they want to play as?
yeah, terrible idea.

You have other leaders don’t you? Is your main over 75% of the games you’ ve played? How is any relevant the people’ s feelings when I’ve talked about multi-leader powers being OP?
Overwatch had a similar issue with some characters, now you can’t pick a dupe unless it’s a custom game, their community seems to be fine with that.

it doesn’t matter if there’s other leaders. if i want to play a specific one, i want to play a specific one. if i can’t, then i’m going to leave the match and find a new one. i’m not the only one who would do that, either.

Your childish answer still doesn’t help with the leader powers though.
No.
Halo Wars, for what I heard, was also broken at launch, even if Ensemble Studios (Now Robot Entertainment) tested the game at least once per week. Even if Microsoft closed the their studio one day before launch, they we’re releasing updates for the game, and so it became balanced. It’s possible that Halo Wars 2 might be suffering the same with the exception of the tests once per week. I believe that once the game has all the leaders and side campaigns, they will release patches, making the game more balanced with each one. But with the amount of leaders and units, it might take months for the game to be perfectly balanced like it’s predecessor.

His reply isn’t childish at all. If you have a preferred leader with your own tactics and build set up, and that choice gets taken away from you, you’re going to play badly, and potentially have a higher risk of losing.
It’s ridiculous to even think of taking that choice of who you want to play as no matter what your team chooses away from players, not only would it make games harder to find because players can’t be their selected leaders but it will destroy the already diminishing player count.
Leader powers are designed to be used, and if it’s a team tactic to go after one person with an overwhelming force to knock them out of the game, then that’s their tactic. The best way to counter is to communicate with your team, and build defences and use your own powers against them as well. Your opponents aren’t the only ones with access to leader abilities.

The way he put it did sound childish, and you really think I’d believe all people is only skilled with one leader?
Not really, since the premise would be that all current players are whiny and can’t adapt to any other leader.
Yes leader powers are there to be used, but some of them are from too effective to broken and if one of those is hard to avoid and can deal serious damage, many used consecutively are just too much to counter, then we have leaders that only have one or two offensive powers while the rest of their tree consists on passives or a few troops, that can’t counter the abuse of hunter brand, which in adition to give little warning is cheap, strong and fast to reload. I could think on other solutions like sharing a cooldown for people with the same character or look at the leaders the enemy is chosing, but I guess you’d whine for that too?

If anyone is whining it’s you. That is the truth of it.
If a team prefer one leader, why wouldn’t they keep to that leader set up.
On another note, having three of the same leaders on the same side makes countering them be easily done, seeing that everyone follows the meta at the moment and if three are the same they’re going to follow the same meta, that’s why a mix of UNSC and Banished is far deadlier than having three of the same Leaders, because of they have to be weary of three different metas against just one of theirs.
Scouting is another way of countering as well, if you have three Colony’s, you can probably guess they’ll be going vehicles with Skitters and possible Hunters, the easy counter for that set up are Cyclops’, Snipers, Hunters and Elites, throw in a few air to pick off strays or key targets and maybe a couple of healers and your golden, especially if you separate your army, which would mean they would have to use multiple Hunters Brand on your troops leading them to a disadvantage when your teams army stroll in to wipe them out, which would leave them with no army and no powerful offensive powers except for their army drop which can be taken over in force and leader powers if you saved them.
The issue with your next point which was if you’re the same leader, if one uses Eradication, the other players on your team also get a cool down. This right there is complete idiocy, especially if you’re playing just a casual Team War, because you’ll be bound to get one person who looks over and see’s his teammate getting attacked and be like “Eradication is nearly available, I could help, but he stole my resource crate 20 mins ago, so I’ll just use it on nothing.” And then proceeds to troll, using all abilities available to stop his teammate living the attack and then when people realise they can screw with their own teammates, then here comes the trolls.
I think we can both see what would happen to the game if that happened.

I don’t think his response was childish. I think he’s just stating the obvious.
I understand where you say that multiple leader powers are strong, but in reality, your team could do the same thing…
If anything, you could make it a separate playlist… However, I think you might be the only one in it…
How would the game decide who gets to be the specific leader? Then the next leader?
What if everyone doesn’t have the DLC leaders? Then it’s unfair to that person to have a smaller group of alternatives.
Also, what’s to stop combined leader powers with separate leaders? Hunters brand + eradication + inferno etc.
What happens if there’s inclement weather?!? (please tell me someone can get the reference…)
here I can solve this whole thing lol. Let people play who they want. If they go double colony (lets just say) and dual hunters brand you, simple way to fix this. Adapt and micro

I have over 70% games played with Cutter. I played with Anders early on (she was my favorite character in Wars 1) and played a handful of games with Kinsano when she was first released (because she had lots of unit drops like Cutter). But now I exclusively play Cutter because I don’t feel like I could do without Raid 2 very well and I only play UNSC (I think I have 1 or 2 games played as a Banished leader). If Cutter was taken by someone else, I would be irritated. If Cutter and Kinsano were taken, I would have no clue how to be very effective with anyone else. I don’t know the best leader power point usage for anyone other than Cutter. So, yeah, I would stink if I was on your team in a decent level match if I could not be Cutter. While I like where the OP is coming from (it sucks playing against 3 Atrioxs and that is likely a team playing together using a cheese strat), I am not sure I would get behind being limited about who I could choose.

> they would have to use multiple Hunters Brand on your troops leading them to a disadvantage when your teams army stroll in to wipe them out,
I think that I’ve pointed out that’s the problem with many Colony, they have many Hunters Brand. It’s not only enduring that, but dealing the troops too, and going micro means smaller armies, that they could either wipe out with their units or at best spend one of the brands. As bigger the army gets more easily is make them shoot, but that still leads to numerical disvantage and once again, not all leaders have effective offensives to even the odds, if you’re playing Decimus or Forge you only can rely on the army that did not get shot.
As for the different leaders throwing powers at the same time, it’s far different from Colony’s multi brand or Kinsano’s multi turret rush, since they’re not as effective or hard to dodge, and in the case of ultimates like Erradication and Inferno have been nerfed (many of them can still burn down bases effortlesy, but the armies at least can escape from those.)
I’m sorry that you’re frustrated by the cheese that can happen in this game OP, but this really is a terrible idea.

No matter how many leaders there are, people will choose who they are comfortable with and who is ridiculously op (atriox) there is nothing anyone can do about that

Your childish thought prosess started this with wanting to lock to one per team unlike in overwatch this is an rts with 9 leaders compared to 25 in overwatch and do you know why people rely on leader powers? Because there are only 3 unique units per character the hero and 2 others

There are 10 leaders for three slots and the total count will be 16 leaders for three slots, which is more than the half of the roster from Overwatch for about the half of their slots.
If you knew anything of RTSs (which I doubt) you’d know that active powers with more than one use it’s rather odd, as the genere is about building armies and upgrading them, not using powers. Having 3 unique units per leader is a poor excuse, since they’re often merely replacing an existant unit that focus on the same and is aviable for the rest of leaders from the same faction, besides focusing on building unique units only would be rather silly.

He could be right on that front though, Overwatch did work better without people duplicating heroes and exploiting the sheer power of having a team full of the same hero like Torbjorn with a thousand turrets. Just because you don’t want to play the game cause your hero is taken doesn’t mean you should own that aspect and that everything should be available like that in sake of balance.
However, there is another side to this argument, and something that Overwatch has that Halo Wars 2 doesn’t in order for this to work and people to not become angry, is plainly that Overwatch has more heroes to choose from!
People steal heroes all of the time over there and their encouragement of maining multiple different heroes could apply to any game. Learn all of the heroes. That’s hard for Halo Wars 2 however cause isn’t that much variety yet.
Once all Leaders are released I would say that this idea would work! This also means that we’re going to have to set banhammers on people who leave mid game who don’t get their hero. That’s a very filthy type of behaviour and you probably shouldn’t be owning up yourself and everyone else who does it.
