Can we get innovative hit markers?

Now I know the inclusions of hit markers was probably a “necessary” step to make to game more user friendly to those who had a hard time telling if they were landing shots or not but when 343 put them in I honestly do not think they were thinking outside of the box… at all. No hate on 343 I love most of what I see so far <3

I do believe they just put in the “X” because others big titles use the “X” in some way or form, thus making transitioning to halo easier. Personally I think they are kind of unfitting and distracting especially because they now moved them to a set spot for all weapons, (not conforming to the cursor) and I do think they could do a better job.

For example Halo CE had the ping noise when you get a hit. Star Wars battlefield has the small circle that conforms to the cursor you are using…

Those are just a few examples on ideas I think were more innovative and not as distracting as the current “wide set” hit markers we have now.

IMO I feel a change is necessary.

Sorry for the noob question, but wasn’t the glowing of the shields when taking damage always a kind of a hitmarker?

That’s a different argument :stuck_out_tongue: I don’t really care for hit markers being in the game because… yah shield flare is all you really need but I know they are not taking them out…

So this is my proposal

It really won’t make much of a difference in the game once you have settled in.

A hit marker does not need an ub3r original design, you just need to know you hit the enemy.

Only big difference is nades can now be used to see if there is someone around the corner like in CoD. Sneaking will be just that much harder. Personally I don’t see the reason for adding hitmarkers, especially since simply seeing or not seeing a marker won’t prevent people from eating your shots.

Shield flare works - however, 343 definitely wants a game audience from other games such as Cod and BF. And, despite the fact that those are “usually” great games, there is an occasional idiot who somehow manages to start a flame war around the fact that he “doesn’t know if he hit or not”.

This. 4 small dashes at each corner of your reticle is simple and effective. No need to over complicate things.

I was skeptical about them when they first game out, but in the UNSC weapons video they are just at a set place and no longer change based on the weapon you are using…

They are made to fit the biggest cursor (rockets) and they just look weird now when using something like the DMR with a small cursor.

I seriously don’t see how it could be distracting. Will it make you stop what you’re doing half way through a shoot out and stare at your reticle, or…what? I don’t get how it’s distracting. I think it will be more of a help than a hindrance.

I guess you could consider distracting an opinion
