Your words, not mine.
I mean from an aesthetic pov.
Maybe. I still would say that the Katana serves no purpose, the cat ears are implied as being audio sensors.
This is heresy
It really is on the people making and wearing items that break the world/art style to give a good reason as to why those things belong. Its not our job to defend something that existed and now peoole are breaking.
Part of the appeal of Halo was its art style. You can’t sell people on something then later go change it and not expect people who were originally sold on the art style to not feel cheated when it is ruined.
(And no art style is not the only thing that sold people on Halo, gameplay was too and thats why when Reach, 4, and 5 came out people begged to go back to something closer to classic Halo, Infinite did that and got the art style mostly right but is now breaking it again)
The Katana would probably break on anything shielded lol. If your going to keep a bladed weapon that isn’t made of plasma it would probably be a knife or something though.
Exactly. Why carry one into battle?
Sorry but you would still see cat ears as that’s on a canon core also having a “canon toggle” would be hell to make because of the coatings now a thing they could implement toggles for is kill effects and armor effects as I’ll admit with the one introduced in season 2 has me want a toggle for death effects because man is it loud and gets annoying quickly if the person using it gets a lot of kills
The canon version of noble 6 is wearing mark v[b] armor(although sometimes they’re given one of the helmet attachments in merch) none of the armor effects(duh as they aren’t shown in cutscenes) and haunted isn’t canon as it’s description doesn’t have any lore attached to it and was made because why not the other armors in reach on the otherhand can be canon as they have detailed descriptions and lore attached to them
Not everything on canon cores is canon. Calling card, cat ears, flower, pumpkin grenades.
The flower and teddy bear is very much canon
The teddy bear is a in universe item, but Spartans wearing a teddy bear on their armour like that is not at all canon. That’d be insulting
Opening/Closing sequences and the multiplayer event cutscenes I guess.
Item descriptions =/ cannon or not. This is applied to the multiplayer maps in CE and 2. Also for maps and armor in Halo 3. What the armor in Reach was cannon because bungie said that whatever you equip is cannon. In the Bungie era cannon was what the campaign showed (unless said other wise).
As for the cannon version of N6. TL:DR there isn’t one. There are are many. But here is a copy paste just in case.
Armor and equipment[edit]
Players can customize Noble Six’s armor using a vast selection of armor permutations (including a robotic arm), colors, and emblems; the player’s chosen character model is used in the campaign, multiplayer, and Firefight, allowing players to better integrate themselves with the character. The version of Noble Six seen in early media was male, wearing a Mark V [B] helmet with an Up-Armor plate, no shoulder pauldrons, no chest attachment, a wrist-mounted UGPS, no leg attachment, FJ/PARA knee guards, and colored steel. As it became apparent that Noble Six’s appearance and gender would be entirely customizable, the Spartan’s armor was changed to fully default armor in most promotional material afterwards. When displayed in most promotional material dated shortly before the game’s release, SPARTAN-B312 is portrayed as wearing the default MJOLNIR Mark V armor with the Mark V[B] helmet and steel coloration. In addition, the Spartan’s emblem is customized as the first emblem with the first background on their respective lists in the Armory: steel-colored Seventh Column with no background.
This is done to avoid portraying Noble Six as a character outside the player’s control, as Noble Six’s appearance depends on the player’s armor customization and gender choice. The only exceptions to this are when a screenshot was released to prove that cutscenes would display player customization, and in various concept art wallpapers, where Noble Six is shown with a plethora of armor combinations. However, the Noble Six action figure was not redesigned with fully default armor.
In the Halo: The Essential Visual Guide, the main render image of Noble Six on the Noble Six page is equipped with a never-seen-before armor combination: UA/Base Security W chest plate with FJ/PARA shoulder and knee guards.

I agree that effects and skull are silly. But Bungie never explicitly said that those things were not cannon. The last time they mentioned N6’s appearance was that it was up to the player… Unless 343 retconned the armor after taking over the franchise. In that case, yeah, retconned N6 looks like you said
Some times it takes a reminder of something tender to keep you in the fight. Would it be insulting if to take a picture of your family with you? Spartans are human after all, not every single one is hyper lethal.
"The gentle overcomes the rigid. The weak overcomes the strong”
There’s nothing wrong with having personal items. But you wouldn’t wear them on the EXTERIOR of your armour.
I understand there is a level of professionalism that should be maintained for military personal in order to prevent people from being complacent in their jobs. I personally have a distaste for the rainbow mohawk and I find the kill effects to be garish. I think from a “hey it’s a game standpoint” all of this is fine, and cosmetics toggle would be cool for this reason.
Overall making stuff that feels more realistic like how people painted things like B52 stratofortresses with a pin up girl or something would be cooler to see then a rainbow afro and disco kill effects
There was a Spartan that carried a beaten and torn teddy bear as a reminder of a child they failed to save if I recall. He strapped it to his armor, it just doesn’t specify if it was his chest piece.
Thats from the Halo Legends Episode “Homecoming” Daisy-023 escapes to go to her family and ends up meeting her clone replacement who ends giving her the bear.
Her armor, not his.
But yeah, PossumWitch above explained it.
I’m surprised people don’t know.
