I honestly didn’t know MCC had that option.
What exactly does it disable or are there a series of options for different types of cosmetics? I assume you can’t use them either then too.
If they can easily add an option, I would not be offended.
If they did add it, I’d prefer the ability to manage cosmetics I could see.
I wouldn’t want kill effects and such to get more obnoxious just because ‘you can turn them off’ if it meant I couldn’t just turn those off.

Look at all of these false victims of something that has yet to happen having their ’individualism’ suppressed in a way that would be impossible for them to even realize.
Willing to bet money most players wouldn’t notice it with Infinite either.
It disables all cosmetics that didn’t ship with the Halo’s as they originally came. Obviously, what I’m asking for is a specific type of toggle.

Oh my god could you imagine. You want to toggle off the reason for the game existing? Without a store what would be the point of a video game in 2022? I think you might be on to something although i will say that I’ve grown fond of my Spartan’s look.

Intolerance is literally a lack of if not the opposite of tolerance. Certain groups have tried to make it (and other words) about something else but thats not how that works. Saying you will not tolerate other opinions makes you intolerant and just because you call the other side intolerant doesn’t mean their opinion is wrong or yours is right. Intolerance without context is not necessarily bad either.
You and i would probably agree that we can’t tolerate everything. You in no way would want to see an actual Fortnite character with its pick axe in Halo. Thats too far, it takes you out of the game due to inconsistency. Some games can have just random armor/skins/effects and be fine because their style is a mash up of whatever they can get their hands on. Halo up through Reach had a pretty consistent art style that people like me fell in love with. The argument for the toggle just wants to keep that going. It doesn’t take away from you being able to wear whatever you want. Now maybe some do and honestly it wouldn’t bother me if they did but i know they won’t so the best option i have is asking for a toggle.

Think of it from a 343’s point of view
Sometimes when connection is low players randomly revert to default. (Accept visor and shader)
Maybe doing that on purpose?
Forced mark VII but only from your perspective.
On their screen its still their choices.
No removing all customisation isn’t a good option or anything close to best.
A canon toggle is the optimal option. I still want to see the Rakshasa, Mark V & VII cores and their customisation.
Maybe what we need is a “Silly Slider” for lack of a better term. It will have 3 states:
-
Only Cannon Armor
- nothing silly like cat ears, no fracture armors,
still have armors that may not fit the classic
Halo art style but are considered cannon by
343
- second most consistent art direction and by
definition most cannon
-
Classic Halo Art Style
- fractures like Yoroi are okay, no armors like.
EagleStrike or Rakshasa, no armor effects
outside of maybe a flaming helmet, no cat ears
- basically anything similar to H3s original MP
armor
- most consistent art direction
-
Anything And Everything
- anything 343 wants to make goes
- least consistent art style, most freedom
I think there are really 3 camps here and just a simple toggle of cannon or not wouldn’t satisfy all 3. I personally want option 2 that i stated above. Bungie had a pretty cohesive art style even when things were a bit goofy like Hayabusa. 343 ruined that trying to completely change it for no other reason than to just separate themselves from Bungie’s work and Infinite finally being mostly back to that is great but seeing as I’m in camp 2 you can guess the issues i have with some armors.
The “Silly Slider” i am proposing would allow you to choose 1 of the 3 states above for the armor that is visible by you. (And we know 343 most likely won’t ever do any of this because people might not see something they want to buy/might not buy something they can’t force everyone to see. This is just a wish list if 343 is listening and willing to make changes the community might want even if it’s not the best business decision)
Rakshasa fits Halo Infinites envisionment of Halo’s art style. And I think most people would be fine with a Canon toggle as evidenced by this topic.
I’m not interested in it just looking like a Bungies halo with Mk VII & V and Samurai.
IF we get a toggle, it’ll be a toggle.
I get it, im saying i know I and many others are in camp 2 though. Yes a toggle is better than nothing i guess but for some of us we would love to go back to soley the classic Halo art style and a mere cannon toggle won’t cut it. Yes im pro toggle but would also like a little more while we are out here making a wishlist. My suggestion still has your cannon selection in there as well.
I think Rakshasa is more classic than Yoroi but that’s just me. It’s just not classic Spartan.
You wouldn’t think twice if it was on a Marine and the helmets are gorgeous.
Maybe im wrong about Rakshasa im not super against it and could maybe be convinced otherwise; EagleStrike is a much bigger issue. And Yoroi is very much in the same vein as Hayabusa. If im not mistaken its a spiritual successor to Hayabusa as Hayabusa was actually a partnership with Gundam to have a resembling armor. That deal no longer exists so they can’t bring back Hayabusa and thus Yoroi was born.
Yea, I generally don’t mind the various Fractures and just because Samurai is a tradition, I’d still prioritise actual canon armour over it.
There is no good argument for it either. “I dont like it” is not a good argument.
Who’s idea was it to make MP cannon? Dumbest idea, but hey every tbag and slur is now cannon to Halo lore.
We already gave better arguments than “I don’t like it” so would you kindly go read all of those before misrepresenting the pro toggle side?

Here is a good quote so you don’t have to scroll.
No one is saying take away peoples armor. Just that we don’t want to have to see stuff that doesn’t fit the art style and/or lore of the game.

Its useless to try to reason with some of these people.
Many of them stated that their whole reasoning is that they want to look as visually ugly and stupid as possible to troll their aesthetic onto other people who don’t care for it. They want attention and will fight to hold onto it.
“I like old Halo style not new Halo style” or “I like cannon armor and not other armor,” these are the same argument as “I don’t like it,” not better arguments. Redundant points overall. The gameplay one I would agree with if every player was not highlighted with a bright outline. I get you are not saying take away armor, I get you just dont wanna see it. I’m saying this is not a good argument. Put yourself in the shoes of a dev. Would you take time out of working on other parts of the game like coop, forge, bug fixes, etc. to make this feature based off of those argument points? I wouldn’t.
I agree. If there was a way to convince everyone here that armor does not matter this would be a better forum. But no, people care way too much what people wear in a video game because this is not a FPS now, it’s a Barbie fashion critique simulator.
Adding anything other than default armor was a mistake. We should not even be allowed to choose colors. The Halo community can’t handle it.
