Can we get a 'solved' report option?

So I have read a lot of posts, where the solution has been found, yet people continue to post in thoughts, dilating the thread, making the answer much harder to find. So I was wondering if it was possible to have an option to report to a mod to lock a topic after the solution has been found through a ‘solution found’ option. However rather than having to find the answer for themselves, let other users point it out to them.

It would make moderation of topics much easier.

You can always try the report button, and then click “other” at the bottom of the dropdown list. There you can type out a brief message stating something along the lines of “this post solves the OP’s dilemna” and we’ll take a peek at it when we get the chance.

Edit: as snickerdoodle said, it’s not a guarantee the post would be locked

Oh I guess that works. Thanks CMM.

On the other hand, just because a question was answered, doesn’t mean the thread should be locked. Others might find it and have a follow up question or something.

Most times, threads and issues die on their own, we don’t want to be locking EVERYTHING.

But wouldn’t that stop threads from getting revived?

Ehhh. You’re thinking in blacks and whites, which is understandable.

I think in shades of grey (no, not 50 of them) because that’s what I have to do as a mod. I appreciate the suggestion in theory but in practice, we’re not likely to be locking resolved threads on a regular basis.

Good point.
