It’s really quite frustrating when you are searching BTB, and if the lobby gets locked in, and then someone quits forcing the lobby to continuously search for a 16th player and it rarely, if ever, does.
I find myself waiting 5 minutes or more before the lobby times out and the “error unable to join”
On the flip side, after the game has started, you better believe the game finds a 16th IMMEDIATELY after someone quits, so its like there are two different search parameters for pregame and during matches.
Ive played against you several times. You’re good.
But I have had this multiple times. I usually try & find someone to invite. If that doesn’t work I leave. Im not waiting 5 plus minutes for nothing. Ive even have had it happen where I join that same lobby lol, only to find more have left. Yet some will still wait for a lobby that will never fill.
The game should start, just like WZ does. Someone will join. Problem solved.
I hate that too. My secret is that I press the xbox button, highlight halo 5, press start, go to quit, and reboot the game. It only takes about a minute.
Sitting in a BTB lobby right now and I just realized the problem: The game requires 16 people to start BTB matches. Warzone doesn’t have this problem because it doesn’t require the lobby to be completely full to start a match. I think if it were reduced to just 14 it would fix everything.
Unfortunately I have gotten to where I just dashboard when it puts me in that situation. I don’t have time to wait 5 minutes only to be able to restart the search. It may get fixed one day, but I wouldn’t hold my breath

Seems like this would be a reasonable, yet EASY solution to the problem at hand. It’s simple changes like this that would allow me to view the developers in a better light. Now if there is a complicated issue with trying to implement this, then I’d understand that too. But waiting in a lobby for 5 minutes before it times out is frustrating when I have a busy schedule. I want quick fast games, even if my team gets destroyed at this point in the H5 life cycle.
The search times when searching with teams is even more excruciating, but thats a separate MMR issue.

I gotta agree here. People are going to play this game for years, it’s not going away just because Halo Infinite comes out. People still play pretty much every Halo game online. Plus, speaking from a purely bean counterish standpoint, could you imagine how many hours people have wasted on those fruitless 15 person BTB lobbies? That’s A LOT of time. I think it’s an easy and reasonable fix as well.
Remember last year how fast they brought down the ban hammer on the Arclight? I couldn’t even use it in Warzone Firefight. But they fixed it and reintroduced it back into the game.

I’m assuming that they don’t have the staff to work on it. 343 seems to be a pretty small, hard pressed developer that has problems fixing glitches and minor game issues.

They aren’t small, but they most likely have everyone working on Infinite and don’t want to waste resources fixing a glitch that isn’t game breaking.
This isn’t just a BTB problem; it happens in Arena too. You find a match, one person bails, and you sit there for a few minutes until it kicks you out.
