Can we fix Double XP before launch.

I forgot during the tech-preview I had an issue with the double XP but the current drama over player progression reminded me. When you redeem your double XP it starts counting down immediately and a significant amount of that time is wasted. It was bad in the tech preview because it was a lot of time wasted while at the menu or in between games and if you had a technical issue and couldn’t play it was a complete waste. If the only activities that reward XP in the game are challenges and completing games then what is the point of double XP? Let’s say hypothetically you redeem 30 minutes of double xp and you’re playing BTB; and finishing a game of BTB rewards 50XP. Then you might end up only getting a bonus 100XP off of your entire 30 minutes of double xp if BTB has no challenges you can complete. That would feel awful. Some people are saying games don’t even reward XP, that it’s only XP from completing challenges, and if that’s the case double XP is literally pointless unless you’re 100% sure you can complete a challenge in that time; but even then you’re essentially cashing in 30 min for 10 seconds of finishing a challenge and the rest is wasted. During the tech-preview I redeemed my double XP card from the web app when I was playing around with it and that even started the clock. I wasn’t even playing the game and my double XP ran out. It’s definitely something that should be addressed before launch because I’m sure there are a lot of people like me that maxed out the Monster Energy rewards thinking the game would have a progression system similar to Halo 5, but right now I almost feel like I was mislead or lied to. And I feel like I wasted my money and I’m not sure that’s what Monster or the marketing team had in mind for the marketing campaign. Double XP should only count down while completing an activity that rewards XP. It’s definitely not a good system for it to count down while the vast majority of the game doesn’t even have any activities that reward XP.

Consumer friendly way would be to make double xp tokens count for in game time. However 343 will make less money this way.

As the system works right now I just don’t understand the purpose of having double XP at all. 99% of the double XP time will be spent on activities that don’t reward XP. It make no sense. It’s almost like double XP was originally intended to work with a system like Halo 5’s 1-152 and sometime in the last year they changed course and went with a battle pass instead leaving Double XP in this weird state. It just feels awful. I couldn’t care less about the battle pass or any of that stuff.

double xp should only count down ingame, or just last for a set number if matches lol. Anything else is anti-consumer practice.
