Can we finally have it? Water Combat?

I’ve always wondered why we never had any sort of aquatic combat in halo, even though the navy are involved every game and they obviously have water craft and ships.

I know Bungie wanted to put boats and stuff in halo 3 and reach but couldn’t get it to work right, but maybe 343i can?

Just imagine, blazing across the water while taking out enemy water craft with the sea breeze ripling across your armour and the sun beating down on your head.

I’d add something new to gameplay, and if a boat that’s water only doesn’t work then how about making the warthog a “hovercraft” similar to the ghost but functions the same as a warthog but can go on water?

please make it a reality 343i!

How would that work exactly? Bridges from ship to ship and boats?

I think it would partially depend on if Spartans can swim by then, otherwise I bet there would be a lot of suicides from people accidentally falling into the water.

There is no practical reason for it. If you were the Covenant, would you deploy aquatic vehicles when taking down a planet? If you know anything about tactics, you’d answer no.

I really think instead of ship to ship water combat, make it a little more visible underwater. A lot of maps ive seen made implemented some type of submerged warfare but couldnt see where you were going. make it at least so the water isnt bright blue. They have helmets on. they should have much better visibility.

Water ships? sorry, we have starships that could even hover above the water if needed. Kinda defeats the purpose…

Aqua Warthog. With a chain gun turret on the back.

I used to want this but honestly, I just don’t see how it would fit in. I can’t imagine them needing boats against the Covenant or any other technologically advanced enemies when they have so many flying vehicles. I can’t see their enemies using water based vehicles. It just doesn’t seem likely.

i dont think he is talking about frigates or big battle ships its probly more like the gohst hovers so why cant it go across water and i think it would be awesome

I think I read on the Halo wiki that The Covenant attacked areas near the seafloor during the Battle of Earth and one of the few surviving Spartan-II’s was sent to stop them.

If the Covenant have aquatic vehicles, then the UNSC probably does as well. There’s a good chance that before the Covenant War, Insurrectionists were fought in modern conventional warfare situations.

lol I support this. Let’s go. Boat warefare in H4!

Never have I ever heard of the covenant using aqua ships. Even the navy, pretty much. Since you know, they could just glass from orbit. As soon as space travel came into existence, fighting with battleships over the ocean became obsolete…or atleast I believe so.

So you want a vehicle that is basically a Warthog driving around a flat and featureless plain, where you can only get in and out at certain points lest you die and where you are unable to use any portion of the map that has ground on it?

Sounds like a horrible experience.

Right from the get-go, Bungie’s always wanted boats in Halo. There’s been so many boat prototypes, it’s crazy. Just listen to the Bungie podcasts, and you’ll get an idea of it.

I wonder if 343 will continue the crusade for boats in Halo…

But then again is Halo combat really that practical really? Why not just kill all the space forces and glass it from orbit?

This just in!!
Halo 4 will be played on Water World!!

And much much more!

But on a more serious note. I think this should be left to custom games or Action sack.

Honestly I don’t see this happening.

However it could be implemented due to the fact that the UNSC would have to have some kind of aqua like vehicle in case of situations similar to where say there was no air support and they were stuck on the other side of a massive river. With them needing to get across to the other side because swimming in their ballistic plating is kind of out of the question how would they? Go around sure… And in the process loose valuable time and not make their rendezvous or next objective on time. They would surely have some kind of military grade hover vehicle or such. Remember great militaries have to have vehicles for every situation otherwise it’s hard to adapt in new terrain.

Bring out the Jet Skis, Scuba Tank and Rubber Duckies. This could be good or bad but seeing as to how they have only had you over water in Flying Vehicles like a Pelican or Falcon. I doubt they would change and do this, good idea though

What I’d love to see aquatic wise at the least is a ski-doo like craft. It would be basically the mongoose of the watercraft.

Granted this might not work well in matchmaking, but think of the fun you could have racing them?

In matchmaking though, this could be quite fun for CTF games. If the craft is destroyed while carrying the flag, then the flag automatically gets reset if it touches water.

I don’t know how well this could be implemented. However, I’d welcome a try at this. If it succeeds, then keep it for the next two games, if not, then ditch it.

We could use some more “newness” to Halo. (At least in terms of vehicles/vehicle gameplay)

Water vehicles would be good. since alot of maps tease you with large areas of unusable water.
