Can we disable sprint, spartan abilities and clamber in custom games? I’d like to be able to recreate old maps and have them play similar.
Yes you can disable all new abilities they confirmed this way back durring the beta.
Thanks, I was too busy playing the beta. Lol

i must have missed that bit… got a source?
I hope they end up maybe throwing in a classic MM playlist, with no sprint and such. Doesn’t seem like it’s gonna happen, but it’d be cool. Probably doesn’t make much of difference, though, since all the maps are designed to work with all the new movement abilities. So even if we disable it, the maps won’t work right. Idk, just my speculation. I’m glad we have the option in custom games, though.
on side note it would be nice in custom game options for turn off thrusters or sprint or any feature that could be considered optional
I imagine you will be able to disable them in the options for custom games, which is probably one of the bigger questions regarding this right now.
I’m hoping there will be a playlist or a couple that have sprint and other crap halo 5 has that are disabled. Because the beta felt like anything but halo to me. Has 343 even played the original trilogy?

Well, seeing as they’ve reached this baseless conclusion about a 10 playlist maximum, I wouldn’t hold my breath…

They sure love and acknowledge that old school fans exist. Halo 4 was a great example of it /sarcasm I expect the same from halo 5
if you can toggle sprint, a fundamental foundation of Halo 5 why can’t you toggle the ugly and immersion-breaking weapon highlights?

Because they think it’s needed and benefits the game

I don’t think a product, video game or otherwise, that costs over a hundred million dollars to develop would allow any sort of decision to be made on “baseless conclusions”. I’m not sure where this “10 playlist maximum” figure comes from but if it is actually real then I assume the decision was at least backed up using playlist/hopper data from Halo 4, MCC and maybe even Reach. Whatever the developers are choosing as the max amount of playlists I trust is whats best for Halo 5 (whatever that means).

They’ve made that posit with the MCC in each of its updates. I’d be more willing to accept that had they offered a single fact to back that up.

Some of what you asked for"Sprint returns in Halo 5, and it remains on by default, but in custom games you can now toggle it on or off.
“One of the things Halo has historically done a great job of is providing options to players,” 343 studio head Josh Holmes told me in a phone interview last night, “letting players customise their experience. It’s in keeping with that legacy.”
You’ll also be able to turn off Halo 5’s other Spartan Abilities, such as Ground Pound and Spartan Charge. This, in combination with the sprint toggle, means players will be able to create Halo 5 custom games with an old-school Halo gameplay feel, and opens the door to a “classic Halo” playlist."
But, there is another article from July that says they went back on the toggle sprint idea. So I don’t know who to trust lol.

Weird, I’ve read through every single update but can’t seem to remember anything about this subject. Guess I’ll have to go back and reread a few of them. Any who my point still stands, what ever that number is I’m sure there is data to back up the decision. The way I see it, the decision to choose 10 as the max playlist amount at release is result of complex relations between many different factors. Years of data compiled and made useful through techniques most people don’t have the background to understand. 343 could make a long, detailed blog post explaining the conclusions they came to but for any meaningful arguments against their finds you would have to have access to the entire data set they used (this will never be released afaik). Of course, I could be entirely off the mark here since I’m making a lot of assumptions on internal decision making procedures.

Doooooooood! How many times I gotta say it! Leave the Classic Playlist map building to our talented Forger’s. Only seems logical.
yes u can this was told to us awhile ago

This would cannibalize their player base. If you have one “classic” playlist then people will immediately start expecting more “classic” playlists and this will just cause a rift between current Halo 5 gameplay and pseudo-classic Halo gameplay. I don’t think 343i wants to risk that as they already have The MCC for “core” players.

I guess you haven’t seen a single thing about Halo 5?
Ugh.
