Can we be done with the ban system yet?

Was banned for half an hour from lobbies not creating. Then another lobby failed and I was banned for an hour.

Video attached of what happened. This is getting ridiculous.

Players deleting maps again?

No idea what’s causing it. Nothing descriptive.

Black screens are me restarting the game.

No, unfortunately it’s needed. Look at this:

Look at the content of the post instead of trying to hijack it for this niche scenario.
Is it even true that Infection doesnt have a quit ban?

This was already been happening to people for over a year. In fact when the ban timers were increased people were already complaining about it because of this reason. The people defending the banhammer just kept lying that it didn’t happen or that people deserve to be banned if the game crashes like that. This is just the game bugging out and not loading you into a game. It’s the games fault, not the players.

Unfortunately i don’t think 343 will change it, since this is already happening for a looooooooooong while and they haven’t cared at all so far.

One streamer even got a 16h ban because this kept happening.

All I can do is bring the discussion up over and over and over again until 343 can’t ignore it. Although, they dont seem to care I agree.

Another 3 hour ban this evening.

That’s 8 hours total today. Sigh.

thats something a lot off other people are also doing with the other problems more that there keep it up again and again.
and notting good has be done with it.

To 343 AFKing is not punishable, so why not.

This ban system is a blight on this game.

What he was trying to say is that he was getting banned frequently due to the match made game not loading. Unfortunately the game can’t detect if someone leaves intentionally or not.

Regardless of the situation, unfortunately they can’t remove it as some other players (trolls) would abuse it. Basically because of a few we all lose. The decision to temporarily remove it could be a double-edged sword.

I remember this happened before a few months ago, some people were getting kicked for some reason (I wasn’t affected though although I was able to see 50% of the players inside a game)

Regarding the quit ban from that thread you shared, the situation gets even worse as players go afk and refuse to play (ban should exist for players who abuse leaving a game or always go afk, although this is a different scenario where the servers seems to be not working again)

343 can enforce rules here.

There should be punishments for users who repeatedly break the rules.

Quit one game? Fine. AFK one game? Fine.

Quit / AFK multiple games in a row? Small punishment.
Quit / AFK multiple games in a row / several times a day for days/weeks/months? Increase the punishment.

There are only a few thousand people left. Stop working to force us out.

I’m pretty sure it has a quit ban system. But with the rejoining feature players are abusing it to avoid getting infected (same thing with slayer game types when players are about to get killed), so we have two options for this:

  • Limit the number of times a player can rejoin
  • Keep the quit ban system on infection

This is the obvious answer to me. After 2-3 rejoins the connection wasnt meant to be.
If players abuse it, make that actionable and after X reports action them.

Most of the time players leave intentionally and I can see that on their stats (with respect to the op, this is something exceptional, and op can confirm this occurs very rare). When I did the 50 matchmade games challenge, I only crashed one time, it was on CE and I was able to rejoin.

I can confirm its rare. I’ve played hundreds of games in the last week; I completed the 50 matchmade games in a single day with no issues. No issues until this randomly started happening today.

Edit: None of which changes the fact that the ban system is frustrating and should be discarded.

Same griefers and team killers every time I get on. They have an in game report option which does nothing and it prevents you from reporting multiple times. They don’t enforce anything but bans because 343 knows it only hurts legitimate players. The same players who are the core fan base that they’re trying to drive out. The only thing that comes out of bans are griefers, afk players, and smurfs. There is no alternative to dealing with a teamkiller other than quitting. And if you do that you’re the one that gets banned? Dumb system. If there isn’t some ai that can determine who lagged out and who rage quit than it’ll never work in any game. Every game with a quit ban system has the same problems: afks and smurfs. The MCC is supposed to be an authentic halo experience. We didn’t have bans and we shouldn’t have them now.

There were other forms of punishment that existed, such as losing XP in the various playlists (after the last title update) or on the account in general. You could argue that doesnt matter either, but it did exist.

Also, there were bans for things that dont exist in MCC - for example, playing with a bunch of guests and spawn killing them repeatedly to match up. Famously, the first person to get max rank in MCC did so by farming with two xboxes and 2 accounts (6 guests). Look up stats on the leaderboards; lots of folks do this, and its not bannable today.

The best thing you can do for now is block griefers on xbox. In social this will prevent you from matching them.
