As great as a game as Halo is, not being able to play games with like skill players really reduces the fun. I don’t think this is something 343 understands. I get the vibe that they feel like skill based MM is a bonus, rather than a crucial part of the game.
That being said, as long as the H2 ranking system is acrually coming as promised, I’m willing to wait. In the mean time however, I feel like a basic training play list would slightly help. Going 30-2 and losing because BIGM1KE and his two guests go -40 running in straight lines spraying their ARs in CE isn’t fun for me. I’m sure it’s not fun for them either. Likewise, dominating teams made up of those players isn’t fun either. I should only be matching very bad players in particular unranked social play lists. Having it happen repeatedly even in team hardcore defeats the purpose.
Big Halo release on a new console = an influx of casual gamers who are new to the series, and forcing them to play against veterans right off the bat isn’t creating a better experience for anyone. There should be a basic training play list like in H3. All 5 halo games to be included with various game types, and say you can play in the play list up until you’ve played 100-150 games.
