I’ve already accepted that Elites aren’t in Infinite and likely will never be added, but can we at least have a real answer as to why?
Is it a hitbox problem?
Is it a technical problem?
Is it that not enough people play as Elites to justify the development time?
Just telling us “that we want to focus on the Spartan experience” doesn’t explain why we haven’t had Elites in 9 years. Or why we haven’t gotten any armor customization in MCC. Dual wielding has already been addressed on multiple occasions in the past with the devs explaining that they don’t like how they affect the sandbox (granted there are solutions for this, but that’s getting a bit off track). But with Elites we’ve never been given an actual reason for it which just leaves us guessing and feeling ignored.
343 would have a fair idea of what % of fans are invested in Elites (from all the old games plus who is playing what on the MCC).
I guess the numbers didn’t stack up to the time and effort of implementation.
What the population needs to do is organise a weekend to show 343 how keen it is for these things. Get all the invested fans to play nothing but Elites for 48 hours. Show them with hooves (???) on the ground.
I feel like time investment shouldn’t be too much of an issue, surely they could just import the elites from the campaign and do what reach did with preset armor configurations for the elites. Probably for competitive and hitbox reasons. And lack of users.

Well let’s be real MCC has a lot of just default settings players so you can’t use that
True it would be nice to get a better answer. I personally don’t care if there’s elites or not but it would be interesting to hear exactly why they aren’t doing it. Quinn did say something along the lines of never say never so maybe it’s simply just a time thing and elites are low on the priority list and we’ll see them some time post launch.

Would that really do anything? No point in using that data if it is artificially boosted and the numbers stabilize again after the “cause” is over.
The whole elite situation is akin to car buyers trying to get manufacturers to “save the manuals” but nobody actually buying the manual transmission.

Hitbox problem? Yes.
Tehnical problem? I have no idea.
Small percentage of people actually playing as elites? Definetly.
And because of really small percentage of people that play as elites, they propably chose not to risk the mp balance for a minority of community. But hey, that is just my opinion and speculations.
I said this in another elite thread, but I’ll say it again here because I feel like this point hasn’t been addressed. I’m personally neutral on the elite conversation. I like increased player customization and I hate when customization gets taken away. I personally never used elites myself but there is a small portion of the community that exclusively does.
It really boils down to that small portion of the community. 343 most likely has extensive data on what armor players wear and what armor they don’t. My biggest guess as to why elites were not included, and haven’t been included for a long time, is a cost cutting measure.
Including playable Elites comes with a lot of extra assets; PVP animations, viewmodels, vehicle animations, weapon animations, idle animations. Those can add up really quickly and suddenly the animators have almost twice as much on their plate. That’s a lot of production and animating for something a small portion of the community uses. It’s increasingly likely that 343 cut playable elites because they’re not utilized as much as the spartan models, and 343 decided that they could produce more content for spartan customization instead of dedicating a chunk of production time to making playable elites.
Take these costs and pair them with the problems elites cause with mutliplayer hitboxes and yeah, they probably got cut because of these issues. Not defending 343 here, but I doubt they baselessly removed a feature people like
hopefully there could be elites in the supposed “10 year plan” they have
like what i mean is an elite campaign and added elites into gameplay
all i hope is just sooner than later though

And that’s probably the lowest risk strategy for 343.
Have an Elite led campaign DLC side story… Arbiter style.
Most likely it’s probably just a case of not enough people play as Elites in the games that have the option for it for 343 to justify spending the resources on the feature for Infinite. While those of us who do play as Elites may be passionate about it, we’re a small crowd.
The dumbest thing is that the answer “a spartan story” actually contridicts the story. In the lore Spartans and Elites train together all the time, notably on Anvil Station!
I doubt there are actually enough players who use elites to justify the amount of work adding them in would entail. From a design-build perspective, you’re doubling the work for your modelers, texture artists, and possibly animators. That doesn’t even count hitbox balancing, map balance remediation, and integrating the option into menus.
To be very honest and hope 343 doesn’t get insulted… I feel that because we have certain strong characters like the Arbiter.
They just don’t care anymore and who knows the people running 343 could be… dare I say it “only care about a certain group of people”.
So when it comes to having a strong certain voice character. They feel threatened!
All 343 has to do is look back as to why people usually loved “Halo 2 and 3” when asked “What was the best Halo Game”
Usually those 2 are the #1 answer and they don’t want to ask themselves “WHY THAT IS!”
Instead they want to push out an unfinished game as quickly as possible. Don’t worry!
I would definitely appreciate hearing the real reason behind it. I’d like to at least be able to consider their reasons for why they aren’t in rather than some nonsensical nothing. Maybe it’s nonsense either way but there’s simply no way it’s this illogical. “It’s a spartan story”, yes campaign is, but we’re not talking about campaign now are we?
I’m aware there was the whole backlash over Halo 5’s campaign hardly having chief in it but 343i is taking that advice a tad too far assuming that’s the reason there’s no playable elites in Infinite. People want chief in campaign, no one said anything about multiplayer.

This right here ^^^
Ive played a tonne of halo over the years and the actual amount of players I’ve seen using elite character models is actually very few people.
Honestly I see this whole elite thing as a very vocal minority and it all being condensed into one bubble and people are just jumping in for the sake of being annoyed at something.
If elites were actually a huge part of multiplayer in the past and then now being removed I could see why people would be mad but let’s all be real. Elites have never had a huge role in multiplayer. They’ve had 1 game mode that featured them exclusively in Reach; Invasion. The rest of MP they’re completely optional and rarely used. They’ve never had a lot of customisation either.
I’ll probably get a lot of backlash for that but that’s honestly how I see things. Elites aren’t in Infinite, that’s fine by me. It’s basically like playing 99% of matches in every other Halo game, never any elites to be seen. Not much of a change at all.
