Can we at least appreciate that 343i is trying?

343 is made good steps towards what we want, which is a lot more then what other companies are doing. Keep up the “feedback”, but just remember that they are taking in the feedback.

Also, a basic progression system was confirmed a while ago, it will probably be released in Season 2.

Also also, remember 343 didnt hire the guy behind the MTX, Microsoft did.

I’m waiting to see what is actually going to take place when the campaign drops.

IMO nowadays, most companies talk the talk but don’t walk the walk.

It looks really good, so far. Hopefully it runs well on a One S.

If by trying you mean trying to squeeze every last penny out of people they can then yes they are, you don’t give 343 enough credit, they KNOW how to make a good game and they KNOW how to monetise it so that players wont complain, they are simply starting at the very bottom and slowly improving until people are not so mad, it’s a tactic many games are using lately and its scummy.
The time for “Trying” is a beta and before they start taking people’s money.

I don’t know how many times we got to say this I know your poppy 343 did their best but they made a conscious decision to do what they did. They knew back in August. When we brought all this up to them in the real beta. They are giving us the absolute worse so they can dial it back and like hey look guys we gave you better praise us and you fell for it hook line and sinker. They knew what they were doing this is all part of their plan do not fall for it or put up with it. They could have gave us better but chose not to. Just like it took them 9 years to give us customization that we had 11 years ago.

I think feedback and criticism is important and often necessary, but the big issue is a sheer lack of perspective. People coming at 343i because they can’t 0-100 a seasons pass in a month (in a 5 month season) and constantly misrepresenting the state of prices in the shop aren’t really helping anything.

The unfortunate thing is the constructive feedback often gets buried under “my free game doesn’t have enough free stuff”, but thats just the nature of online forums. Some people have done a great job keeping certain threads alive, and hopefully 343i is taking notice of the feedback. A lot of the opinion about Infinite is going to depend heavily on what happens at retail on 12/8. If the game is largely untouched or we have no solid status update by then, well 343i is kind of making their own bed.

Just found this post, pretty interesting
(Reddit btw)

Running well or not is not my concern. It’s everything else that has me concerned. I didn’t buy the battle pass, nor did I pre-order.

Gamers need to start demanding finished games again, remember the days you could go into a store, buy a game and that was it, seems now that no game launches with all its features, Infinite alone is launching with major core features like co-op campaign and forge yet still charging £50, they need to either make it an early access game that costs £20 max or make it a AAA title and ship it with all it’s damn features.

Which is smart. You effectively get to experience every aspect of MP on their dime, and it allows you to see how things look at retail. If I wasn’t able to get the Infinite edition series X I would have likely waited till coop launched to pickup the campaign.

The other end of that though is that gamers (being far from a homogeneous group) are the same people that become completely toxic when they don’t get something in a window THEY feel is appropriate, and walking that line is tricky as a dev.

Personally I would have waited another year if it meant coop/forge were done and in the package. Their handling is pretty indicative that the games as service MP is the focus this time around.

Could be worse though, could be BF2042, charge full price for MP only and hit retail with a massive amount of actual mechanical and gameplay issues.

When will people see its not a free to play title, Halo Infinite was supposed to be ONE game, but they could not monetise that as hard and still have a AAA price tag, so they cut the game in half and said half was for free while still charging AAA prices for the 2nd half, the ONLY reason multiplayer is free is so they could cram in a cash shop and a battlepass because it’s more profitable than just a AAA price tag especially when most of your players will still pay the AAA price tag for the 2nd half and people will fight their battles for them

Sadly “no” for a simple reason

343 must have told microsoft. “Look HALO-INFINITE” should look like “Battlefield V” minimum, it is a AAA and we are using 500M dollars on it. We are going to use the Unreal-Engine 5 on XBOX-X, SERIES-S and SERIES-X on one-fat / one-Slim the unreal engine 4.

In Gears 5 your multiplayer was “Destroyed” by the leavers and trolls. We have to get more serious-strict with these people and we are going to implement a very powerful system in HALO.

Halo-Infinite will be on Steam / Gamepass for free, but if your behavior is “inappropriate” you will be kicked out and you will have to pay 60 USD for the “Full” game.

XBOX multi-accounts will be 2 profiles each “battle-pass-season”, you will have to verify your account with “Phone-number” as CoD-Warzone does, among other things.

So IF we would say that 343 deal with HALO-INFINITE

I’ll appreciate them when I can choose what gametype I’m going to play.

Basic functionally, not implemented. I’d have chosen that over every other cool thing in the game.

Yesterday I played 12 CTF games of the 15 total. Today, with a CTF challenge, I haven’t seen a single CTF game after playing 10 games or so. What gives?

Aside from ways to get free cr, gametype selector is my most wanted feature

That you can go out and get the entire MP suite independent of campaign, makes it free to play. Literally nothing else you had to say overturns that fact.

The only “battle” I’ve been fighting is one of perspective and accuracy, I have a low tolerance for emotional hyperbole or misrepresentation if info in arguments, as they detract from meaningful feedback, nothing more. Although do please point out where I’ve been shilling for this. I’ve pretty much voiced my dislike for FTP, microtransactions, and my irritation behind delayed coop on every relevant post I’ve commented on.

Or reread my literal closing sentence of the post you quoted if you think I’m out here fighting 343i’s battles for them.

It feels pretty free to me. I haven’t paid a dime and I’m enjoying the game just fine. I don’t even have Game Pass or XB Live. So, I’m not sure what you mean.

It doesn’t feel pretty free to anyone that is also planning on buying the campaign, still paying full price for a regular Halo title but now the multiplayer is also stuffed full of micro transactions and has nothing to progress towards or unlock for the players that don’t want to spend even more money on a cash shop after paying the usual $50 for a halo game, people seem to be forgetting that literally every halo release has included multiplayer but didn’t have a cash shop (With the exception of Halo 5 and we all saw how that went)
If you can’t see that a normal halo title has been cut in half in order to support a cash shop while still shipping for AAA prices I’m not going to try and convince you, encourage it more see how the gaming industry ends up in another 5 years

NOPE! They ignored half a year of flight feedback.

The thing is, with the budget this game had a lack of a progression system at launch doesn’t happen by accident, it’s not a difficult thing to implement even if it’s in a primitive form that needs xp values tweaking. Of all the features in the game that are missing or botched, that one is something I could literally design, programme & implement myself, let alone a whole studio with a 500M budget.

The fact it is missing is simple deliberate incompetence. They must have axed it so that the only progression atall at launch was the battlepass, or just buying armor.

I do think the issues are disproportionately caused by execs & not by the majority of developers, but I still put the blame squarely on 343i for this games shortcomings, and think the management have to seriously answer for why those things were not prioritised and worked on.
