Can we ask for specifics for next update?

I know some things won’t be addressed if we ask for it, but for next update can we have a poll during one of 343s livestreams and we can vote for what can be addressed along with what you guys put out?

Ske7ch did mention that on Twitter you could use the #ask343 tag to ask questions. Also I’m sure they will read the forum as well.

They actually read the forums? Right, sure they do.

Just because they don’t respond often doesn’t mean they don’t read the forums.

Respond often? Hardly ever, if at all. At the end of the day, 343 just solely cares for profit. That’s it. They don’t care for the players, just only their money. Whatever possible to meet Microsoft’s quotas and their accounting spreadsheets.

Now, returning to the topic at hand, I totally agree with the OP. We should be able to ask specific questions and get some answers. I have some questions that hopefully I can get clarification on.

Again, that doesn’t mean they don’t read the forums. In fact, I would wager the majority of 343 are not allowed to talk much on the forums so that no secrets accidently slip out. The forums aren’t meant for communication with the devs, anyway, that’s what Twitter and e-mail are for.

I personally get the sense that despite the focus on community engagement, 343 is more interested in what trends on twitter than what longtime halo fans have to say on the forums. I don’t expect that anything we discuss here will be heard by them, or that our feedback here is monitored, much less integrated. I would love for them to prove me wrong, but I’ve really never seen any engagement. I would love to see more discussion, and even to see them asking everyone about their opinions, i.e. maybe 2 years ago asking how everyone feels about armor coatings vs primary/secondary. Then rather than shutting down dozens of forums about how mad everyone is, they could avoid mistakes and get useful insight from fans. Just my opinion and experience, like I said, would love to be proven wrong.

Have you ever emailed the developers to voice your opinion about the game or share ideas? If so, did anything about that experience indicate to you that your voice was heard or that your feedback was integrated?

Honestly i dont think we’ll know anything than we already. What we do is from the start of this months:
Its gonna be on the last Thursday of February (25th) and will be about how Zeta Halo was brought to life.

They have made it quite clear that they are saving the big reveals for the PR machine - which probably won’t really start to wind up until mid year. You can ask all the questions you like… but the bits they are saving for the big reveal are going to get vague replies.

But at the moment I’m really enjoying the interviews and tid-bits they are throwing us. I was hoping for a couple more MP shots this month though - seeing as they have already broken the seal on that.

The forums cost money to run and don’t earn any money back. As you said yourself, 343 ultimately care about income. They are a company after all. Logic dictates that 343 must get something out of Waypoint forums, likely in the form of feedback.
Simply put, the forums would not exist if 343 did not read them.

Just because developers don’t post on the forum doesn’t mean they don’t read it.

I still have a hard time believing this. Like I said, I’ll believe it when I see it. Over the years I’ve watched these forums constantly complain about major mistakes that 343 was making and I’ve never seen it change anything, or heard any sort of response from 343. I do my best to frame my criticisms in a constructive way, because I want them to succeed, and I want to get to play a good Halo game again. I’ve never felt like fans had much of a voice in the design of 343’s games, and that they have always gone for what might draw new gamers and make them more money over what stays true to the series or makes a good game.

you’d be surprised how many people are lurking on this forum developer & fan a lot of the time.

Like myself i don’t see the need to respond to every thread that pops up rather just see the abundance of views on the subject.
