Morning Spartans, troopers
After reading that last fodder response on UNSC missiles, I reached my tipping point with 343i lack of inconsistency or in fact actual practical military thinking when it comes to the functionality of the UNSC military beyond the Spartans. They dont seem to remember their own lore.
The Howler missile was introduced to fans as a new type that was the successor to the venerable Acher missile type. It was superior to the Archer in every way and we saw this in the Kilo-5 book Thursday War, where the Infinity (which is a whole separate issue) fired a mere 250 missiles which killed two covenent destroyers. You would need x5 the number of Archers to accomplish the same task.
Rapier missiles were never given a quantifiable yeild as they have only been mention in loadout specs.
Archers are the go to missile type for every type of engagement due to their modularity. This is why we see the SoF use them for everything from anti ship to orbital bombardment missions. And stow the ‘its an older ship argument’ according the the new encyclopedia Holwers have been around since the Punics so SoF should have been equipped with them.
This along with the many other illogical ship lore, ie the Halberd having two types of MACS, the Autumn class only having one MAC, the anaemic missile battery compliment, lack of secondaries) just to name a few is truely maddening considering that Halo is a Sci-fi space based universe. Yet it has more issues with its ship/military lore than what is acceptable.
As a long time halo fan and veteran, I really wonder if 343i uses any kind of military adviosr or reaches out to its base for practical knowledge on how to shape the lore or if the just pull these things out of the air.
Also asking for a friend, if the UNSC Infinity had so many weapon sytems on it. Can someone explain to me how the Banished (space monkey Isis) managed to down it? Because right now it only seems to be down to plot and pandering.
