Can the Grunts speak English again?

There’s something missing in a Covenant firefight when the grunts aren’t screaming or badly taunting you. I know it is not a development priority, but I still hope that we have English talking grunts again.

Maybe an option to switch between both?

They should stick to the classic Halo designs too but yes I miss the english speaking designs. I do miss the humour in past Halo games.

I think both the Grunts and Elites should speak bits of English.

Perhaps in Locke’s perspective. Maybe the Gen II armor has built in Translators. Wild idea, but potentially possible. Chief probably shouldn’t, though.

YES! but I’d say for ALL covies

I think they should do a mix. Their normal speaking amongst other Covies should definitely be in Covenant-enese or whatever, but it would be awesome if their shouts of horror and cowardice were in English.

I just miss the joyful feeling when Grunts sqeak, yell, taunt in English.

That requires way more work than just one, and gibberish isn’t going anywhere past 1,000 unique lines anyway, but there will probably be both regardless…

343i seems to be taking the campaigns in a more serious direction. There was literally no funny moments in the Halo 4 campaign. I think this is why Grunts dont speak in English no more. I miss the funny one liners.

they should have it as a skull

Thats pretty much my complaint with Halo 4’s campaign. I miss the offhanded humor.

I thought that all Spartans had built-in translators… Isn’t that how Master Chief heard the Covenant speaking in Halo 3? If he got upgrades then why wouldn’t he have them…? Pretty useful technology.

I hope so.

The funny things that the grunts come out with always made me laugh just before Doming them.
I’d love for the little English funny grunts to return.

They should. The only reason they didn’t is cause, if you read the books, Jul discovered a lost clan of Covenant. And enlisted their help. And cause they were lost, their speech was way off compared to what the unsc and Chief was used to.

So by the time Halo 4 happend. Chief never encountered this clan before and the UNSC had very little contact, so the translation software couldn’t translate.

But now they have been fighting the Jul faction for a few years Now. You should start seeing translations of what you had going on In halo 5

It is also why the armor is completely strange too. Your talking about a clan of Covenant that has been out of contact from the rest of the galaxy for almost 1000 years

A very good idea.
Something like : you can unlock the traductor module in your helmet option…

Why not? He could hear them in 1, 2 and 3.

I hope so, I hate those bug voices they had in 4. I prefer when they have hilarious quotes for the situation

I thought, “I don’t suppose you’re any good at clearing LZ’s?” “On occasion,” was kind of funny. It was certainly a call back to Chief’s famous one-liners from the first three games.
