Just like the title says. Also on a side note are there any species in Lore not seen in game?
I don’t believe we’ve seen any instance of the flood being able to detect active camo. I may be wrong though.
I think it might not work on them in-lore, thinking about it. It works on combat forms in gameplay, but gameplay isn’t canon and I don’t think the combat forms even use the body’s eyes at all to sense the environment (Sangheili forms have their heads folded over the shoulder, for goodness’ sake XD). It only works on creatures with eyes because it bends light around the user and doesn’t remove any other effects they have on their surroundings.
Camo working on the Flood is, I think, just a gameplay mechanic used for fairness.
Side-note that might contradict my own point (random musing): I wonder why Pure Forms have eyes if it’s true that Combat Forms don’t need them. Is it just a design descision to make them more creepy? They still have those feeler things that infection forms have, so IDK.
As for species in-lore but not in-game, there are the Yonhet and the Sharquoi.
Forerunners mutated to be different as their lives went on to better serve their roles in society, creating several genetic differences, but as far as I figure they weren’t considered to be different species.
There were several subspecies of Ancient Human in the Forerunners’ time.
Ancient humanity - Faction - Halopedia, the Halo wiki (I can’t find where I read about our ancient different subspecies)
That would be interesting, I’ve never thought about that.
Hm… interesting question. If they can, it would easily be explained, because Precursor-neural-physics-space-magic.

The different subspecies are talked about when we meet Riser and Chakas in Cryptum. As both are subspecies of Human. I can’t remember what Chakas was but Riser was supposedly one of the Island Hobbit people whos’ remains have been reportedly found in obscure places around the world. (-Yoink!- Floresiensis according to Wikipedia).
Chakas is -Yoink!- Chamanune also from wiki.

Awesome, thanks!
the flood sense around with the tentacles with purple/red floof on the end coming out of the entry point into the host probably acting as multiple sensory organs at once. the flood also dont use their hosts eyes so active camoflage shouldn’t work on them due to alternative methods of detection
