Maybe I missed some information already answering this question somewhere but is it possible that 343 could eventually implement split screen play in the future? I understand why they removed it and I understand that the lack of split screen was revealed a while ago, but could the mode be added if they decided it was worth it? Since they got rid of it for smoother gameplay, would it affect the entire game to add it or would fps only be affected while playing split screen then? I apologize if this discussion has already been had and would appreciate being directed to it in that case.
It is doable - at this point I’m not sure they would. I was kinda hoping they dropped it in stealth for launch, but no luck there.
I think it’s a direct response to playstation fanbois on the internet make such a big deal about resolution (thanks IGN), that MS or 343 decided to cut the feature because it would drop to 900p/60fps or 1080p/30fps for same system co-op
It can happen, but I dont think MS would sink more money into the game considering H6 is being planned out.
Hmm, well I hope its doable and at least given some consideration given the backlash of many people only realizing theres no split screen after having already bought the game. If the split screen mode would be the only mode to suffer from fps drop while playing the mode, I don’t see why they shouldn’t implement it if possible. If, however, implementing the mode affects the rest of the game somehow, thats another discussion.
From what I’ve been reading over time it won’t happen. Halo 4 had a similar problem, just like some Halo Reach maps. I may be mistaken but 360 had to something like running the game 4 times at the same time (4p ss), that’s why it almost could’t handle the game, you got lower resolution, lower textures and a lot of frame-drops.
Xbox One should fix the issue but 343i had the idea that the game must run at 60fps.
They had to do a LOT of trade offs like graphics to be able to lock at 60fps, so doing that 2, 3 or 4 times at once is probably impossible.

Of course it is! I don’t know if you split screen lovers know about this thing called the internet. It’s replacing split screen faster than newspaper.

Ah, well thats a bummer. They’re not capable of unlocking the 60fps just for split screen though? I could imagine the issues though given that I’ve already had frame rate drops the way it is in single player.

Um dude just because its out dated and most people don’t care doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be in the game. Some people enjoy sitting on a couch and talking to there friends in person as oppose to talking on a mic hours away. split screen tactics help out more then you would think and there is just something really satisfying about beating a halo game split screen with one of your best friends. Saying split screen shouldn’t be in a halo game is like saying that Mario shouldn’t be a plat-former anymore. yes there are Mario games that are more open then a plat-former but they always go back to its roots. Split screen is a root for halo.

Thats exactly why it’s not in the game. Split screen doesn’t equal Halo. It was in older Halo game because it worked for the times.

Yes, the internet plus one console, one tv, one game and one Xbox Live subscription per every player.
Your argument makes no sense. I had internet already when Halo 2 was king and still played more split-screen than online. One thing don’t replace the other.
Its potentially doable, but I still doubt it would be implemented as the game would need a lot reworked to support it.
