I remember reading in some of the ancillary lore that Spartan II’s were unable to become inebriated due to their heightened metabolism.
I ask this question because, at the end of Spartan Ops episode 3, Chapter 5, Sarah Palmer offers “First round on [her].” After you successfully assassinate Parg Vol, and return to the ship.

It could be more of a way of saying: When you get back we’ll celebrate/honor your victory. They could be going to get drinks or they could be just relaxing and talking about how things went. It might just be a figure of speech at this point but it’s most likely just an overlooked thing that no one would really think of.
I think that Spartan IVs might be able to, Since they do not have the Same Level of Augmentation as a Spartan II or III. But who knows, It could just be a Figure of speech for a job well done.

Just because they’re having drinks, doesn’t mean their aim is to get drunk. Alcohol can be enjoyed in a much less over-indulgent way…
But I can see the point of your thread, and it’s an interesting thought. I’m not too sure if the newest generation of Spartans would have the same degree of heightened metabolism as the Spartan II’s, but if they did then I’d assume they couldn’t either!
Not a big deal, most people do not drink just to get drunk and get a painful hangover. But rather to celebrate, or it could just be a figure of speach.
Spartan IV’s usually get drunk off of fermented baby food but if they can find the right kind of shady engineer to do the proper modifications then they can also catch a quick buzz off of confiscated plasma weapons.
Wolverine can not get intoxicated yet it doesn’t stop him from throwing down a case a night, guy is Canadian after all. As for as Spartans go I am not sure I would want a bunch of 7 foot tall 300lbs of war machine super soldiers getting wasted and going crazy, the MPs of the UNSC would be so hosed.

Wolverine vs. Captain America vs. Master Chief in drinking games.
