Many people hate spartan charge in Halo 5. Removing it is maybe too much, but at least can it get a nerf in damage?
When someone charges you from the front or the side it removes your shield and a big part of your health and after that a single shot is enough to kill you. That is WAY too powerful!
Halo is a first person shooter, not a Rugby or (American) Football simulator. Let’s keep it that way.

So why is that too powerful if you were always capable of doing that, Spartan Charge or no Spartan Charge?
I understand from the side and the front, but you can only nerf it so much before it’s better to just sprint and melee them, and Spartan Charge only serves to hurt you because you can’t choose to not use Spartan Charge when sprinting.

Maybe I wasn’t too clear. I also think that a melee from behind shouldn’t mean instant death. But hey, it has always been that way, so it will probably stay that way. I’m okay with that.
My problem is with the side and front spartan charges.

Well, a melee from behind should always be an instant kill. It has been this way in every Halo game. Would be very awkward if changed.
However, to support your argument (and I agree that Spartan Charge is a bit OP at times), I would say that Spartan charge from behind shouldn’t be instant kill (unlike melee) because it can cover so much ground. So if it just gets to the enemy at the end of the charge from behind, they should be one shot. If the enemy Spartan Charges from right behind me, it should insta-kill.
Also, I agree that when full shields and charged from the front, it should only drop shields but still require a couple (or even a few) shots to finish the kill.
I would say tone it down by one kill shot across the board.

Well i guess if a spartan can fall a large distance then someone charging them would not be effective or damaging.
They really should increase the number of strides it takes to initiate a Spartan charge. That’s always been my concern. You’re just able to do it WAY to fast. Someone can see you first and you turn and see them to begin shooting, but maximum sprint speed is already reached and bam. Charged and 1 shot. Sometimes thrusting out of the way doesn’t always work since the melee and charge have pretty tight assist on the aim.
Not sure what you call that, so I just called is assist.

I actually agree with this… Your Spartan reaches maximum Sprint speed much quicker than perhaps they should, which means than nearly every CQ encounter you face will often preface itself with a Spartan Charge… Not that it hinders the overall feel of the game to me that much, it just annoys me in the moment.
It should have more of a utility purpose, such as bashing through structures. Or it can be reworked to do less damage, and won’t lock on to targets as easily. In addition to the rework I mentioned, it has the ability to plow through a group of enemies instead of one target.

It can already break through (if only a select few…) areas of the maps in Warzone.
Also I don’t see how a Spartan could plow through a group of enemies unless they’re Grunts, Jackals or Marines… smaller and more lightweight opponents.). Probably bringing a bit too much realism into this but hey, that’s how I work but I digress.

You’re right about it struggling to go through a group of Spartans but it’s possible. And I think the main use of SC was originally intended to bust through those structures but we all know how it turned out. What I meant was it could only be effective on those structures and not combat.

Perhaps they should nerf the lock on and reduce the damage to 1/4 of a shield.
It seems that a simple fix would be to just extend the recovery period for the charger after the action: would allow the recipient to at least get an extra shot in after being surprised while still leaving the encounter advantage with the charger. Then the Spartan charge still rewards the attacker but at least gives the recipient a reasonable time to respond.

Yeah, and it’s one of the most pointless things ever. “We need a barrier here so players can feel good about spartan charging through it.”
For nerfing spartan charge, make the charge cover less area when it’s executed, remove all aim assist (so it doesn’t turn into people), and make it have more of a stun effect to the charger if they hit someone anywhere else but the back.
I personally don’t like it at all. If it is removed I would have a going away party for it! lol… It really has no business in Halo in my book… If Spartan Charge is here to stay then we should at least have unicorns running around blowing colorful confetti out there butts! That would be epic!! lol…
Agreed. It’s pretty ridiculous honestly. People can literally just run around the map and soak up bullets just to find one person, and they’ll still be able to kill them from a single spartan charge. It really requires no skill.
