It has been 3 years since launch on PC and my extreme disappointment in the lack of split screen. We’ve gotten our first large update information for a while. Can someone inside of 343 please address wether us PC players will get the feature added in eventually. Nucleus co-op sucks used it a few times, not a fan. I’m tired of still having to play these games on my 360 for the couch co-op experience (won’t buy a new xbox because my pc does all the same things a series x can and more and that is where I invested my money) I’m tired of asking the same thing and either getting flamed because “pc players don’t split screen, how can you split screen on a small monitor (not realizing how many people have their pcs hooked up to 60”+ 4k sets or that we used to do couch co-op on like 27" crts)" and absolutely 0 constructive news or responses. Any information would be nice guys. Thanks.
This is the only functionality I’ve wanted since release, I have so many friends who would want to play Halo, but can’t because I’m a PC player. I have four controllers, TV connection, and so many incredible games that support local multiplayer and the only one that’s a shooter is DOOM, I’d give anything to add Halo to that list.
Day one I will never forget loading up MCC pc, going in to the reach menu, turning controller 2 on and realizing wtf there’s no split screen.
I played all of the flights for pc, saw the promise it had and was so excited (just like infinite. boy was that a mistake)
Then it launched with no splitscreen and I really didn’t play it. I continued to flight in hopes of split screen being added but nope.
Then we got up to the point of H4 being the last title to launch on pc, so I thought ok, maybe this is it.
Maybe they’ll announce it or quietly add it in.
Again no.
Then it gets added to the backlog pending further discussion and since then, well over a year ago now there has not been a single peep.
I play halo with my kid on the 65" in our living room.
If an og xbox from 2001 can do it there is absolutely no reason a modern pc can’t especially when microsofts own branded pc adapter supports up to 8 controllers simultaneously.
Use the damn feature.
Other games have successfully implemented true pc split screen and it’s a trend that should be followed.
Im just tired of having stayed patient for such a long time hoping for the addition.
Then infinite came out, seasons stopped and all my hopes basically withered away.
TLDR ;
Splitscreen should be on pc.
I see more split screen related items showing up in the cfgs so someone inside has been doing something related to it.
Any confirmation from anyone at 343, Saber, or C.A. that this is still a feature being considered that we can expect to launch on pc or if the idea is flat out not going to happen would be appreciated and put this question to absolute rest.
The silence is maddening and has been going on for 3 years now.
It’d be awesome if you could play splitscreen on separate monitors on a single PC.

I need split screen😔 such a let down from 343
Even if splitscreen is only ever reserved for consoles, my personal gripe is that only Halo: CE and Halo 2: Classic support widescreen co-op. (Yes, the oldest games in the series are the only ones to support widescreen co-op! Something doesn’t add up!)
In my opinion, all games in the MCC should be made to support WIDESCREEN CO-OP! PLEASE!
i honestly dont understand what is it with people not adding splitscreen to pc ? whats so hard about it , if performance is a problem just let a warning pop out if certain hardware might experience lower performance. let the other players assign a controll device to their player and good to go. pc setups might even allow making splitscreen viable above 4 players. why not say max 4 players per screen but its possible up to 16 players basicly running a lan trough a single pc with 4 screens. Why not give the people who have the hardware the option. add maybe some graphic options like back in the day where the quality was reduced to save performance but make it dynamic , a lot of games these days use dynamic resolutions etc.
Hey I know this is a bit late, however I thought I’d try ask anyway. I saw your video and i just want to ask how did you manage to get split screen on halo 3 campaign
if you own mcc on steam download the mod tools for halo 3. follow the instructions in README_MODDING.txt, and make a copy of your fmod folder from your main mcc install of halo 3 into the root directory of your halo 3 mod tools. next create a init.txt with the following text in it.

it’s by no means perfect, but it will allow you to play vanilla splitscreen on pc, both campaign and multiplayer. multiple xbox controllers work using the microsoft wireless adapter for pc. it should auto populate profiles depending on how many controllers are connected.
