Can someone explain the ranks to me???

Hey guys I don’t really understand how halo 5 ranking is going to work. I know that we get a skill level like iron bronze silver ect. And a csr rank but I have no idea what that is. Will the 1 to 50 rank return as well? Thanks guys

Instead of numerical ranks, players are placed into one of the tiers as follows, from lowest to highest: Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Onyx, Semi-Pro, and Pro. You are assigned a tier for each playlist, and the tier you start in is based mostly on your win/loss ratio of your first 10 matches. If you win enough matches, you’ll be promoted into the next tier. If you lose or quit a match, you’ll lose progress to the next tier but you will never go down in a tier level. For example, if you start in the gold tier in Slayer, you’ll never be de-ranked to silver if you go on a losing streak.

So you mean every playlist will have that so for example in doubles I could be semi pro and in slayer I could be onxy?

I didn’t know you couldn’t drop tiers. that’s pretty cool.

Correct. Since win/loss carries much more weight than kill/death in this system, I recommend making a team of players you’d work well with.

The skill system operates on the same principle of the 1-50 system except with ranked tiers instead of 1-50. Think of it loosely like this:

  • Bronze = 1-10
  • Silver = 11-20
  • Gold = 21-30
  • Onyx = 31-40
  • Semi = 41-50
  • Pro = the most elite of 50s from previous games

I can’t wait until all of this is cleared up and it’s not just based on speculation and information 10 months old.

It’s been confirmed that this is how it’ll be like from what others have been explaining on this thread.

You played the Beta right? It’ll be similar to that.

Yea I would love to be “onxy” lol

I think I would prefer an overall rank, such as in Halo Reach.

So it’s basically CS:GO competitive ranks. Instead silvers are less bad.

Are you guys sure players can’t drop to a lower tier by losing games. I had the understanding that this only applied to Semi-pro, as in where you get a numbered rating. All I heard was that once you get to Semi-pro, you will stay in Semi-pro to Pro for the rest of the season. So it is the same way with all tiers?

I think everyone is misunderstanding, I am pretty sure it is your explanation above, you can drop down tiers prior to reaching semi pro, however as you say once you reach semi pro you can’t drop from their for that season. You then just work you way up to be as high as possible in the semi pro rating. I am also pretty sure they have changed the names now however from semi-pro and pro.

Am I the only one thinking they should change the “Semi-Pro” and “Pro” rank to “ODST” and “Spartan”??? Wouldn’t that make more sense… just saying.
Bronze, Silver, Gold, Onyx, ODST, Spartan! Ya, that’s better.

Where did you hear that they’ve changed the names of Semi-Pro and Pro? I’d like to read that. If you’re right, I hope they changed it to something cool.

Sorry I can’t remember exactly I am pretty sure I read it somewhere though. I think the reason is obviously because just because you reach Pro Rank doesn’t mean you are necessarily a Pro because obviously not everyone goes to tournaments to compete for money etc. Plus most people won’t get to Pro etc anyway because obviously as well as being good at the game you need to put in a lot of play time to retain your rank etc.

When I played the beta, I was placed into the Gold tier. And like all Halo games, I eventually reached a horrible losing streak. My bar would creep up a few times, then quickly fall like a house of cards. But even when the bar was empty, I was never de-ranked to Silver no matter how badly things went for me.
