Can someone explain The Didacts to me?

Hey, I have loved Halo for many years now, I understand everything about Halo apart from one thing…

The Didact, now I understand the Didact in Halo 4 is the Ur-Didact but there is also the
Bornstellar Didact, now this is where I get confused, The Ur-Didact and the Bornstellar Didact are the same Forerunners right?

The Bornstellar Didact was never confirmed to be dead so what would happen if the Ur-Didact and the Bornstellar Didact met in Halo 5 or another future Halo game?

Could someone just explain this whole Didact business to me, I understand the basics like he is married to The Librarian, he hates humans etc but can someone explain the rest to me please?

ALSO! What would happen if Bornstellar met John? Would it be a rerun of what the Ur-Didact did?

Thank you <3

The Bornstellar-Didact, also known as the IsoDidact, was a Forerunner Manipular (or first form) who was imprinted with the Didact’s personality and memories. This imprint eventually took over, making Bornstellar into a new Didact. So no, the Ur-Didact and IsoDidact a two different beings. They share a certain set of memories, but both are different. You can think of the IsoDidact as how the Ur-Didact would have been, had the Ur-Didact not been corrupted by the Flood.

Now, there are ways that the IsoDidact could have survived for 100,000 years, but it seems unlikely that this happened. He certainly never imagined he would, as he mentions to Riser that he would like if the IsoDidact’s and Riser’s decedents met.

Thank you :3

Don’t you mind that other Didact.

“[He’s] no longer a Promethean. No longer a Warrior-Servant. A traitor!”

Gotta love that quote

No evidence of IsoDidact’s death… and both didacts have met before.

> No evidence of IsoDidact’s death… and both didacts have met before.

No evidence for his survival, either. Not saying it couldn’t happen, but he has no reason to live for 100,000 years, and his dialogue in “Silentium Rebirth” suggest he never expected to live that long.
