Can somebody explain what just happened?

So apparently the scarab that shows up in the Ark is a giant coward! Just look what it did when my buddy and I started fighting it in a gauss hog:

Here’s another clip from my perspective, in which you can hear Stacker acting like it’s still around, long after it ran away:

Needless to say, we were unable to complete the mission and had to start over. Has this happened to anyone else?

Wow that was something else. I’ve never seen anything like that before. Send that into achievement hunter’s game fails.

Wow, never, ever had anything like that happen to me before and I’ve played Halo 3 countless times!
