Can Social be Social again? Please?

Been asking for two separate playlists for so long now.
Ranked and Social to get all gametypes to stop hyper competitive players being in BTB. I feel that Ranked playlists don’t have many gametypes and players get bored with the same maps over and over. So they go into Social and forget that they’re in Sweat mode and destroy the other team. I do see a full team of hyper comp players in BTB all with the same emblems…why. why not have the full playlists both for Ranked and Social.
I’d honestly like to have all these gametypes and be Ranked in each one in the playlists.

Some could say that everyone complaining about SBMM are the ones who play sweaty in the in the first place. Everyone else is being saved from them.

But your arguments basically boil down to good players not wanting to play other good players. Good players wanting to play bad players so they can chill out. This appears perfectly reasonable until you look at the other players perspective. The average to bad players being stomped by onyx players so they can chill, why would they want that? This is basically only a problem for the top 15% of players.

Top players are used to going into social and being better than everyone in the game 9/10 times. So you always see social as “chill” What if you’re in the bottom 30% of players? If it’s random you’re going to get stomped every game and it isn’t “chill”.

There’s a very good reason they use SBMM, it’s because for the majority of the population it’s improves their online experience. Josh menke said it increases player retention by 30% it only sucks if you’re on the top end of the skill curve. But I agree with you it sucks, I’m a diamond 5 player and I don’t like how social plays but I also see the big picture and understand why the way it is.

The problem I am seeing is I am still playing platinum and diamond and onyx players in social when I search with my silver and gold teams. If we calculate the mmr, it’s like 3000 vs 4000. Nothing fair about it. I couldn’t even try the 360 no scope, because they are perfect shotting all of us in seconds. I swear I play better players in social than ranked.

I can’t say I’m surprised tbh…did you play halo 5s Quickplay? A joke of a playlists with the worst match making experiences I’ve ever had in my life. I hope they read the feedback to give social players an actual social slayer since that’s what everyone’s asking for.

But what’s the answer? They don’t have any control how people play the game I.e ar pistol starts people will still play hard.

Doing what halo 3 and reach did could work. Base movement speed nerf and make strafe speed have an acceleration curve. I actually thought that might happen when there was a lot of feedback over players feeling like they can’t aim well and topics like this as well back during the flight. I said the same thing then.

The speed difference is 10% in those games. Tournament BMS was 110%, social 100%. You also got your shields back faster in social, damage was also modified.

Agreed. Really can’t tell whether its the SBMM or the lack of interest in objective modes, but, I have been in matches where we simply destroyed the other team. Its like they weren’t even trying. Literally, I have won Oddball games 200-8. Or Strongholds games 200-0. Some CTF games also go by very fast.
And no, its not like I was sweating it or anything, not at all. I was pretty chill like always…

One-sided matches were also a problem in the MCC. You simply could tell who was going to win 30 seconds into the match, really. Which was not fun.

i think you have the right idea. to make social better, the skill gap needs to be made tighter so that matchmaking barely has a job to do. Basically sociall settings shoulld feel like a gold player can give an onyx player a challenge. heres a list of things sociall coulld have to achieve this.

  • easy weapon starts. the sidekick is not an easy weapon and skilled players use their sidekick against ar users and is creating a needless skill gap, ruining casual play.

  • much bigger radar, bigger than classic halo’s radar. Radar puts everyone awareness on a similar level and tightens the skill gap.

  • classsic aim assist just for social?

Is SBMM even confirmed? I see so many people saying it’s in the game but honestly my team is not even close at the same level of play sometimes.

While I wouldn’t mind, its certainly not fun for the weaker player or for the people trying to win for challenges etc.

I went 19-4 in slayer, I had a teammate go 1-18. We had no chance with this person and theres no way in hell he enjoyed playing that match. But I cant believe SBMM put us as the same skill so I question if SBMM even exists

Unfortunately people are allowed to play social the way they like. It doesn’t make it less social at all. Social just there to try and accommodate everyone into it, including good players. Can’t really tell people not to play the way that they want in social, and there will always be people that want to win in it…

What you want is community server lists that are run by actual people. There they can make their silly game modes you can goof off in whenever you want.

I presented my idea during the first tech flight…no one cared. Sometimes I feel like im wasting my time even bringing things up…it feels like halo waypoint doesn’t matter. People bring up reddit more often than this place.

It would be hard to say what skill level would have less struggle with another…but…the principle is just to make it feel inherently not super competitive.

-slower base movement speed makes aiming easier for less skilled players, and consequently makes a competitive player stick to competitive due to the 2 playing differently.

  • bigger radar is a bonus. Many asked for it. I absolutely hate the radar, but I’m no one to get in the way of making people enjoy the social mode that much more. It should be bigger, and it’s been asked for repeatedly.

  • side kick is a strange weapon…the thing shreds man…I use it in competitive and slap people with whem they’re using the Br.

We don’t want the aim itself to feel different across the 2 modes, but we do want it to feel casual friendly. With slower base movement speed, a player that’s not into the hyper competitive feel won’t be feeling their reticle slide all over the place when their opponent is doing some insane crouch strafe all over them. Don’t get me wrong…as the better player, that feels extremely rewarding, but that has its place elsewhere.

Yeah I’ve been completely put off of quickplay since I always have to get super sweaty to not have a miserable time getting absolutely destroyed. I might as well just stick to BTB and ranked. I don’t want to always try hard but here if I don’t do that, I’ll just be playing a respawn simulator

I miss the days when you would find all sorts of different matches in socials and you’d occasionally have a sweaty game but you’d also have games where you could just do stupid stuff you’d never try against decent players and it would be this crazy moment that was just pure awesomeness. Kinda feels like that’s gone and I think it’s because matches are being manipulated (more so than in the past) to provide a more consistent but less fun experience.

i’d prefer easier aim assist for social rather than changing movement personally. As for sidekick, my point with that is a noob with SK will never beat a skilled player with SK. However with an AR, its a different story, the noob can stand a chance against other AR users.

I think bullldog/AR starts would be good social settings. Both have a tight skill gap and encourge more close quarter gameplay meaning less teamwork which is always hard to balance. In social, weapons llke the BR should have less ammo and be considered a power weapon that gets you 2 or 3 kills before you run out of ammo.

Sounds like your 10-year-break boys need some practice.
Calling people sweaty because they wanna win a match (which is FUN, the whole point) is some small YOINK energy. Start up some customs with your boys and practice up.

Bingo! I don’t care what list I’m in, I am playing to win.

Sadly it is working as intended and this is the problem. If it put similar skills against each other only it would be a solid system for what it’s worth, but like in MCC it tries to reach a middle ground. Two top players searching pair with two bottom players to achieve this, which in reality doesn’t shield the bottom players.

Those who get it get it, though many people have the wrong idea. This isn’t to feast on the lower player, it’s to not be paired with them constantly which ruins their enjoyment just the same. CBMM would be such a better fit.

Can someone please explain to me what SBMM is?

Skill Based Match Making.
People like to blame that for getting smoked. They’re really just not as good as they think. And then they call everyone who kills them sweats.

okay so what’s the C in CBMM?

You don’t understand how scuffed SBMM is in MCC and now this game. There’s no excuse, you can legit pop 30 in Slayer and lose consistently. If the system paired BG (background) 50’s with 50’s against 50’s, it’d be solid. What it does is try to reach a middle ground to make it more “social.” This means if you and you partner are 48’s, your two teammates are 3’s. Now it’s a race to slay against their deaths, which isn’t really fun for anyone. If it’s a system meant to shield bad players, it’s doing the opposite. You can talk big, but popping 25+ a game and losing gets old quick for everyone and why people stack in social still.
