can prof anders warthog rush be countered?

Hey i know the obvious answer is yes, i just don’t know how…

Ive not been playing very long, a couple of friends are always on halo wars so i thought i’d try it, i’ve always liked command and conquers, shogun etc…

But im kinda stuck at the moment…

I play with prophet of regret…because the prophet looks bad -Yoink-…

I played this guy who was using Professor Anders, they get the fast upgrades so good for rushing…anyway…

They went full upgraded warthogs , I didnt expect it, and i had vampires…no idea why i built theses, i just thought, anders = rush , hornets? guess not…

Prophet of regret got cryo bombed, then all damage aimed at my leader, died really quickly , so i got completely owned…

I searched another game, same person! im thinking well an obvious warthog rush should be easy to counter…i build up about 7 anti tank infantry forgot the name, upgrade them once, sit them on the only entrance to my base… go level up my leader, take second base etc…

the cheeky sodd, used pelican transport to fly about 20 warthogs into my base , took by uber suprise, my anti tanked flopped, same thing happened with leader.

Yeah so i am new, just trying to learn, but what do you guys do ? when this happens? really annoying to die to a warthog o.o

Game 2 : Halo - Official Site (en)

Your enemy produced 60 % more supplies than you did. He also build 31 hogs while you trained only 8 hunters. It is obvious that hogs will ram those beasts back to deep space. Also you trained 6 jackals for what?

Against any good played you just cannot waste 600 resources without reason (6 x jackal). Also you really should focus to build your economy faster. The 60 % gap is way too huge.

As you mentioned, you build vampires against gauss hogs. They are almost the worst possible unit you can build against gauss hogs (I guess engineers are even worse).

If you get 4 x vampire and 1 x hunter in a game which lasts 10 minutes, you really should lose.

You have to learn the basics of the game. Always build something in your base before 2:30 mark.

P.S. If it is annoying to lose to gauss hogs, do not play as PoR.

The prophet of regret is a niche leader. But there a few things you can do with him to great effect.

  1. Temple third, upgrade blessed( the fuel rod guns) all mediocre anders players will build at least 4 gunner warthogs to harass, clear expo. Blessed means the old cripple can take them on head on and win.

  2. Factory 5th. This can be game breaking, get a wraith then heavy shield to protect your base. Build more to escort your prophet to attack.

  3. Keep your ghost alive. All you need to win is to scout. Hunters are utterly useless in many situations.

  4. Upgrade your base. If he is obsessed with his little hogs, your wraiths in number will easily tear through their numbers

  5. Deny them the ability to expand. Give them time and they will overrun you.

  6. Attack! Attack and retreat. Wraiths and prophet have shields, abuse that fact. Every little bit of damage you deal means they have to either heal 350 supplies, or sacrifice the target.

If they go gauss, get scorch, if they go hornets, mix a few vampires in, the prophet can potshot them too. If tanks get banshees, they’re immune to canister shells, are fast and either force wolverines or more hogs. Meaning your army wins.

The prophet has his strengths. If it gets too difficult get someone to teach you the brute Chieftain. But play with these units and ideas and you will be crushing that anders in no time

Confirmed…Engineers produce very little damage against hogs.

Hey thanks for the reply, but you just pointed out what I did wrong, not what i should do ?

yeah, thanks alot for the info , I am fairly new, but just trying to learn, i never even thought about wraiths…ill try that for sure thanks…

Temple 2nd and build one turret to deal with early harassment. I say temple 2nd because you don’t want his hogs stealing the supplies around your base. Supply crates are a big deal. Your turret will protect one side of the base while your prophet protects the other side. You want to eventually get blessed immolation and wraiths.

I usually get citadel before going factory, but whichever you prefer is fine. Factory 5th will slow down your economy a bit, but you’ll be able to stop the expansion for sure. Wraiths are good because they prevent counter-attacks. They are mobile turrets. Always keep one or two at your base in the mid-game.

I usually make a timing push on their base around the time they are getting their airpad/vd up. Your beam can deal with turrets and help out with killing spartans. Beware of spartans, seriously. They are annoying lol.

Nobody has said this yet and im suprised.

You said your new

You should proably play skirmish for a while before playing online, not trying to be rude

but it does help.

Skirmish isn’t even the least bit hard until automatic 140+ (When the Ai starts to cheat a lot. as in their units have a base health and damage of double yours.). other wise the AI simply derps too much to really be a challenge, there are times when the AI could hav beaten me if it pressed the attack however it retreated because I killed half of its units.

To get good quick learn the game. Anders has 3 options against the covy. Hogs (easy option) tanks (power option) or hornets/mix of these three. If you keep them to one base and build the counter units . Ie wraiths and banshees, possibly a couple of vampires. You will win. 1 base v1 base means equal income (given four heavy supply pads each) but you have the option of two unit producing facilities at the same time. Where as they’ll have one. This game isn’t about time played its about understanding how to approach given situations. Keep them to one base and hit their units when they move out.
