Can it be better?

This thread was created to help the Halo community improve the series we love, whether it be this game or the next. I will try and update this list as good ideas come up.

Split-Screen: This is one part of the social aspect Halo was built off of. It introduced new players to the game through friends, siblings, and relatives. This alone caused the community to grow from CE to 2 and should continue to be supported in the future.

Movement: There are many threads regarding the movement in the new Halo games, mainly sprint. There are three ways we can go about the movement going forward. First is to keep it as is, which is fine. The second is to remove sprint and increase base movement speed in the game to make up for it. The last way is to figure out how to balance and enable being able to sprint and not lower your weapon, allowing to shoot at any given time.

Playable elites: This is another big topic in the Waypoint community going on right now. The simple way of fixing this is to add them in. We can limit them to custom games and Warzone only, which should make most of the community happy. We can even Implement invasion back into the game with Warzone: Invasion, allowing for a new take on something the community loved.

Weapons and Vehicles: There is plenty of “343i should add this” threads into the game. The easiest way to fix this is to add ALL weapons and vehicles into the new Halo sandbox. Keep the new variants in Warzone and custom games, and allow the other items into everything else. Besides, isn’t arena supposed to be a training simulator now anyway?

Maps: Everyone likes map variety, and wants more. We all understand that it is difficult to build a game and time consuming to make a map. So how about putting in community made remakes and new designs into more than just BTB? The other thing we need is more aesthetic variety with the map designs, Halo expands to tons of different worlds that can be used.

File Share: This is a very important tool for the community. It allowed the cartographer and screenshot community to establish and grow in Halo 3, and it wants to grow now. 343i has it on Waypoint, it needs to be in the game as well.

Social playlist: There needs to be an outlet for the social community as well in Halo 5 and beyond. Separating Arena and social into to complete playlists with all the same game modes will ensure everyone has something to do.

Game modes: Halo has so many classic and iconic game modes that were missing and some that still are. These game modes need to be implemented into Halo 5 and be there from the start in future release with new games added in.

Req system: The first implementation of something new is typically the worse and can be improved. First we will need to add in some armor that is earned and not random. These can be through achievements, commendations, and level/rank. Next we need to add specialty packs for weapons, vehicles, and vanity. Then we need to be able to purchase single reqs after certification is unlocked with points. Using the points we earn, we can then purchase attachments for armor. If we keep micro transactions, then instead of buying packs we should purchase points. (This one will be tweaked with suggestions)

Ranking System: This is another point of conflict for the community, which stems from the appearance of being inaccurate. It seems everyone would like to go back to the 1-50 CSR method.

Customization: The way we customize our Spartan is a step back from previous installment. We at the very least need to go back to Halo 4’s customization with Helmet, lens, body, arms, shoulders, and legs. Then build off of that with armor skins, attachments, etc. It will help make players feel unique.

UI: The user interface can use some improvements, something akin to halo 3 or halo reach UI. It should allow other users to see armor, gamertags, emblems and ranking. They have all these awesome stances in the game let others see them. Then, allow players to stay in lobbies and see the other players who stick around. It helps players to meet others, become friends, and builds the community. I would say let us see post game medals, but they are already adding this feature.

That is what I have to start with, what else does this community believe will help improve this series we love?

I think the req system just needs to go. Or balance the unlocks between rng and achievements. Another idea is bringing back Reach’s cr system. They can make it so you can buy cr but need to be a certain rank to unlock certain things

That is closer to what I was going to write down. I still haven’t even put all of my ideas down yet.

Updated it

I agree with all of these more or less. Very much the split-screen comments and the movement although I think sprinting with a gun up doesn’t make much sense as the point of sprint is to sacrifice the ability to shoot straight away but you move at an increased rate but I do believe they can have it how it is now or in Halo 3 for example with no sprint at all, either works for me I really don’t mind. I massively agree with the Elites, Maps and Weapons comments but it would be cool to see Warzone variants of all weapons but I imagine it’s very difficult to make them as there is a lot of design and balancing involved. Also the idea of Warzone: Invasion is awesome. Totally agree with more vehicles as there are so many vehicles I miss from older titles and would be so much fun to use in Warzone yet they are nowhere to be seen. Fileshare I believe is very important as it was a great way to share maps, gamemodes, films and screenshots and allowed the community to thrive really well.

Social playlists and gamemodes need to be a big focus in my opinion as so much of the community is asking for both of these. More gamemodes just makes the game a lot more fun since there is so much more to do and it really makes a game feel like Classic Halo. Social playlists just allow that big portion of the community that plays the game casually to just play it the way they want without any need to feel under pressure due to a ranking system and it’s also a good way for all players to just sit back and relax without having to worry about taking the game too seriously.

I like the Req system the way it is but I do feel it would be cool to purchase Reqs that we have certifications for, maybe at double the price that the card sells for. I don’t mind the current ranking system but I imagine a lot of players preferred the way it was in older games with the 1-50 method but this is another neutral point for me, I don’t mind either way. I really liked customising my Spartan in every aspect in Reach, it made me feel very individual and unique in the way I made my Spartan look. Halo 4’s was also good as it allowed the change of all parts of the Spartan pretty much but not quite as good as Reach but both are good. Sorry that this is extremely long but I wanted to address every topic you wrote about and voice my opinion a little.

Thanks! I have been reading a lot of threads around here and came up with these possible solutions.

This was a good change from the usual: “THIS IS WRONG. THIS SHOULD BE CHANGED. BUNGIE NEVER DID THIS. 343i YOU ARE TERRIBLE HALO IS DEAD”. Although there has been a lot more positivity on these forums recently I’ve noticed but it still isn’t as positive as the /r/Halo subreddit usually is but that’s probably because most of that is just comical gameplay clips.

That is kind of what I was hoping for, something productive that will hopefully end in positive change.
