This is a yes or no question folks, not here to debate the likelihood of what I’m about to suggest but rather simply asking if it would be enough to make a decent recovery of Infinites playerbase. With that disclaimer out of the way, here is my hypothetical.
Now with the winter updates and drop pods I think we can expect the completion of cross-core customisation for Mrk VI, Mrk VB & Rakshasa through drop pods. And, we better FEEL those diverted split-screen resources. What if Season 3 dropped as a sort of relaunch With these features below?
Tatanka
Custom Games Browser
2 or 3 new weapons
2 or 3 new pieces of equipment
Desync fixed
Region select
Several community forge maps voted into matchmaking every drop pod.
Obviously I’ve not thought of everything nor have I went out of my way to include everything from the road map. But, just as a baseline if Season 3 dropped with this content - would you return? Do you think other players would too?
no I could only imagine how future seasons will be if they are pushing back forge another 2 months and prolonging season 2 by 4 additional months. the future is bleak
Been waiting for splitscreen, it hasn’t happened, it got canc’d for… something. Still no lobby, no mention of lobby. I’m just tired of trying to be enthusiastic about it when it does everything it can to get in the way of having fun with friends.
A fix for desync is really important but it needs also more content like maps, gamemodes to get the people back. The fix for desync alone will not bring people back, that moved on to other shooters.
No I really don’t think it could recover.
Even hesitant to say if I’d return. A friend of mine said he’s done with Halo at this point after the cancellation of Couch Co-Op and all the other things which landed at the same time.
All of these sound very… great, but as has been said, a lot of damage has already been done and people have moved on. Not to mention, few games get a second chance with “re-releases”.
When this game gets on track and starts to deliver consistent content on a timely manner than yes. The big challenge right now staying and supporting this game is that some basic features (forge, co-op, split screen) are not in the game and as a community im sure a majority of us would’ve been happy to pay for them at release. This game is on a different landscape than any other Halo game and 343i has dropped the ball on delivery.
I’m happy with this new roadmap and I truly wish and hope that the delivery of this upcoming items before Season 3 and during Season 3 get delivered to the player base.
Until desync is fixed content is a horrible idea. As they add new content desync will continue to get worse as it’s main cause is issues with data transfer.
no.
i think infinite is done. maybe it will achieve a slight increase in player numbers, but the reputation of infinite is already gone. there would have to happen something very huge, but i don’t see it happening (especially while looking at the road map)
don’t get me wrong, the game is not “dead”, bc there are still people playing (and for 343 most important: spending money), but i highly doubt, that it will become relevant in the gaming industry.
lets hope for a better game with halo 7
The section of the Halo community that is primarily PVE players has lost interest in a “game as a service” that offers them nothing. No new campaign dlcs, no PVE game modes, no nothing.
On the other hand, the sector of main PVP players is losing interest when they see how their minimum requests to have at least a solid and fun base are not being fulfilled. Therefore, they go to other games that offer them that content that hooks them.
You can tell that it was a very good idea to ignore your entire community and focus exclusively on the esports and competitive minority.
Nah.
They can release forge, firefight, warzone, co-op, fix desync, add a better progressipn system and cross core customization, and still people won’t look back at Infinite.
New games are going to be released that will fill that empty Halo Infinite left, and then it will be forgotten (if it is not already), like most games nowadays.
Also, people don’t forget things like this so easily, just look at No Man’s Sky, Battlefront 2 or Cyberpunk; They had a rough start but at the end they ended being nice games, still a lot of people never returned to NMS, thinks BF2 sucks or that Cyberpunk is still a buggy piece of sh**t.
No way another game will ever be able to successfully replace Halo and what Halo has meant for now 20+ years.
If people were truly done, they’d stop posting here on Waypoint and playing the game. Every little comment, post, engagement about Halo Infinite keeps the game alive and a dream and hope for the success to return in these areas that 343i hasn’t meant thus far.
