The new Railgun aka portable Guass cannon. I saw that coming. Did anyone else think of it right when they saw that unknown weapon on OXM or GI, can’t remember which magazine it was.
Dont quote me, but I actually thought about a Gauss rifle, and I asked my buddy who knows everything about everything Halo wise…apparently its already in one of the novels

Yes correct, a gun that operates like a semi portable gauss cannon already exists it is called the M99 Stanchion Gauss Rifle, though it fills the niche of a extremely high powered sniper rifle. The Stanchion can shoot through multiple walls of instacrete and one shot from it any where on the body is usually more than enough to rip the target to pieces, it also needs a power supply to operate fully like a vehicle or generator. Though I’m not sure if this is the weapon 343i has in mind, but a sniper rifle that swaps power for portability/mobility would be cool.
Depending on the ammo that you get this could be seriously broken. I imagine this gun will be replacement for the spartan laser and will be great at taking down vehicles. But will one shot spartans? If it does then it’s not all that overpowered considering it’s just a rocket launcher with no splash damage. But if you get say 10-12 shots (10-12 kills) I think we can all see how that could be a little obnoxious. I’m hoping that it has a one or two shot clip with 4-6 ammo like rockets.

I just saw the cover of the magazine and it is defiantly not the Stanchion Rifle, so it’s anybody’s guess!

Railgun technology =/= Gauss technology
I’m expecting this to operate like Fallout’s Gauss Rifle. It’ll most likely be considered a power weapon, and it’ll most likely need to be reloaded after every shot to not be overpowered. I’m just hoping it’s not going to be a Reach Gauss Hog, or else that would be extremely overpowered.
Maybe it’ll be a new sniper rifle and be harder to aim?
This might as well be the quick and deadly laser right? The both seem to fast power weapons.

What about higher rate of fire but lower damage than the rocket launcher
My prediction is that it works very much like the brute shot as I have a feeling that the brute sandbox will not appear in the game, with a possible exception of the grav hammer.
