I’m pretty sure if I bought it via Steam I wouldn’t be able to play it on Xbox, but if I bought the game off the Windows store for PC, could I play it on Xbox too?
based on their previous title i assume they will continue play anywhere tradition.
- Forza Horizon 5 does support the Xbox Play Anywhere title, meaning you can buy the game once and own it on Xbox and PC.so i think it’s safe to say we can expect that feature available in halo infinite.
It says Xbox Play Anywhere on the Xbox Store Page for it, so I would assume so.

YES but you have to buy it on the Windows Store on PC or the Xbox Store on your console
Others have confirmed the Play Anywhere status for Infinite. As a little more info, I believe Phil Spencer has said in interviews during the last year that (almost) all first party titles going forward will support Play Anywhere.
The only exclusions for that are games that were already too far on in development when the initiative was finalized
I apologize for re-animating this thread, but it was the closest to having actual details. I have seen the assertion above that it is only Play Anywhere if you buy digitally, but I just want to re-phrase and ask that if I were to buy a physical copy from somewhere, the Play Anywhere ability would not come with?

play anywhere only works between xbox console and windows play store for pc if you purchase it digitally. Physical copy… pretty sure that does not work for play anywhere.
That is shall we say unfortunate.
it is NOT play anywhere, if you buy on pc you only get it on PC

No problem. You’re asking an important question. I myself preordered Infinite for xbox physically, and was also wondering the same as you

Where are you getting that? Everything I’ve seen suggests it IS play anywhere, subject to the same limitations that other play anywhere titles are. It has to be a digital copy, and not through steam. Is that wrong, I may have missed something.

I’m pretty sure the microsoft store version will be usable on PC and on XBOX, but as you alluded to, the steam version will be strictly for steam, on PC.

if its play anywhere where is my windows store copy? i have the game on xbox (digital obviously)
For multiplayer, yes. For campaign, you’d definitely have to buy it via the windows store for a chance.
Play anywhere only works on Xbox and Windows Store, not Steam.
The multi player is free so you can play it anywhere you like, the campaing will only work on Steam though if you buy it there, if you buy the Xbox version or the Windows Store version you can okay it on PC or Xbox but not on Steam.
