Can I haz bots in multiplayer?

Titanfall has bots in multiplayer. Will Halo X1 compete?

I realize that it may be foolish to ask this right now. But I just wanna put it out there to see what you guys think of the idea.

I think it would be interesting with flood minions in infection gametypes, and/or grunts defending Invasion objectives.

Thoughts?

I don’t necessarily want them for multiplayer, but I really want the option to use bots for offline multiplayer and custom games.

By bots he is not talking about A.I Players he is talking about minions like league of legends or dota

So imagine A.I marines or grunts in multiplayer as part of the team to make it the match seem much bigger in scale but while remaining 6v6, 4v4 etc

Where does it say he’s talking about LoL or DoTA?

He wasn’t I was just giving an example of a game with bots like titanfall

OP I like having bots, but if they appear in MP it’s gotta be confined to a playlist like Blops II. However we should definitely see bots in Forge and Customs.

I don’t think bots are a very good idea, unless Firefight’s general aspects were somehow integrated with standard multiplayer so that AIs could interact in a standard Halo multiplayer environment.

I’m not a developer so please don’t quote me on this, but it seems like it’s very plausible due to the dedicated server support Halo Xbox One will have.

Just my two cents.

I personaly don’t want them in multiplayer, however I’d would like to be able to spawn a few AI spartans in a multiplayer map (like in forge or something) to use as target practice. It would be a great tool for newcomers to want to get better and/or get a feel of how multiplayer works.

I would probably use them to practice playing at higher sensitivity, or practice 4-shot killing with the BR, sniping or other parts of my game that need polishing.

There could be set difficulties, you could have them just running and jumping around like little white rabbits on the map, up to having them constantly shoot at you with perfect AI aiming to practice strafing or using your surroundings to take cover among other things…

It would be a nice addition for like forge or custom games, just not in MP. MP is for real people.

Not sure what the difference is here, Jackie boy.

For clarification, I was talking about the same kind of bots that defend the spire on the firefight DLC for Reach/anniversary.

Possibly with simple command options on the d-pad.

i’d like bots. but only offline or in a firefight or SW: battlefront-like mode. it would bring in variety, since i’ve red in the forum that A LOT people don’t have anybody to play with in customs, including me. Since SpOps failed, i think something like this would be a great addition to the campaign & matchmaking.

Unless 343i finds a way to successfully implement a way for the player to lay out pathfinding meshes with console controller, then I can’t imagine it working in Forge unless the gamemode is heavily restricted.

I think we need a stickied topic concerning bots in MP. This is such a repeatedly asked question that gets shot down time and time again for the same reasons:

The AI in Halo is not the best. I dare say it’s only adequate when you’re fighting it. In MP I envision bots being massively detrimental in that they just constantly feed kills to the enemy.

And secondly, bots could never work with any Forged map. They would have to be repathed to even know what surfaces they can walk on and where to go.

Bots? Please not…

No. Just got done playing the Titanfall closed alpha, they should have replaced the bots with actual players. It takes that umph you get from killing actual players (pilots).

anyway i hope Halo 5 is more advanced anyway none of the games yet feel next Gen. Hell they can still be played on the 360…

bots YES!,but for multiplayer?HELL NO!

we should have them in forge and custom games only!

343i make it happen

Listen 343, it would be mighty impressive to Microsoft (your employer) if you were to use good halo A.I. For bots, most fans would find it worthy of checking out, even old fans a who’ve bailed on the series…that could distinguish you from bungie, meaning they never did it, but YOU guys DID! Eh? I gotta say bot gameplay has been a saving grace for many people when it comes the the tired COD series…it could breath some fresh life into halo! I hope the matchmaking community gets everything they want in the future releases of halo, I love matchmaking myself, but I think halo needs to spend some time with the co-operative play in halo. I hate to say “horde mode” or “extinction” , but for lack of better words I cant think of better fits than those for the halo universe. Spops was okay, and firefight was good, and customize able, but for many became a bit boring over time. We need a co-op experience that is a bit more addicting maybe? Hard to explain what do you guys think?

Bots wont work because of the way Halo is played. It’s not like the traditional shooter we see these days. There’s way too much depth for them to actually be useful of the sort. It’s highly unlikely that we’ll see bots strafing, making jumps, responding to Teamates, taking ordanance and power weapons just to be killed a second later. It goes on.

I would love it. It’s ironic how as gaming technology has advanced that bots have just been phased out. Thankfully Call of Duty and now Titanfall is bringing it back.

It would be great for playing with friends and it would allow for people to test their maps and play on DLC maps without the need for real players. It would be perfect.

Far Cry 3

I’m going to assume that they developed some sort of dynamic pathfinding code that alters the pathfinding map as objects are placed into or when the geography is changed.

It seems easier to do considering that the objects in that world have definitive roles and don’t vary from them. You don’t expect the AI to just be out walking on someone’s tin roof. Would Far Cry 3’s AI know that they could walk up the ramp I built entirely out of tin roof panels? Would they know where to go if I made the entire map out of them and various other pieces generally not intended to be walked on? Because that’s what Halo’s Forge mode is, the pieces don’t have set roles. Ramps, floors, and barriers can be made out of anything.

At the very least 343 would have to create their own version of that, from scratch. Frankly, a lot of effort for what amounts to little gain. At worst, it’s a virtually impossible task.
