This August update is absurd, and I don’t see how 343 can justify taking away things myself and others paid money for. I paid for the Anniversary map pack because it was advertised as an opportunity to play maps I love on Halo: Reach settings. Sure, you can say that Anniversary Classic is a way to play the maps, but that’s not really Reach, it’s intentionally a different game, or mode, whatever you want to call it. Furthermore, had I known that’s the only way I would get to play them, I wouldn’t have purchased them because I don’t like the Anniversary settings at all. And please don’t tell me the maps can be played in the non-Anniv playlists, I’ve been playing since the maps came out and gotten them on non-Anniv playlists all of two times, maybe three. So, as you might have guessed, the purpose of this thread is to try to get what I paid for and reunite Anniv maps with TU/Reach settings
343’s justification for the update kills me, too. At peak hours, you’re putting a maximum of 2,000 people into other playlists by removing Anniv BTB and FFA. What does that do?! Nothing! It’s already ridiculously easy to find a match in normal BTB and Rumble Pit. This has never been a problem, nor will it be for the next few months (and longer for BTB at least). There’s always people in those playlists, so what is the purpose of this “streamlining” process you’re going on about. All you’re doing is taking away something an admittedly small group of people really enjoyed. That’s literally all you’ve accomplished, because people are going to find matches in the non-Anniv playlists at the EXACT same rate they always have. I don’t get it.
But, rather than complain the whole time, how about some solutions?
Option 1. Make the Anniv maps free, and make them required for matchmaking. This might make people angry that paid for them within the last year, but at least it will give us the ability to actually play them in matchmaking (i.e get what we paid for!!). This would also improve these playlists ten fold by giving us better maps and probably bring back a lot of interest in Reach. I’d love to play more Team Snipers on Damnation and more Objective on Beaver Creek. It seems like a pretty big win-win to me. Do others agree?
Option 2. Bring back the TU 4v4 Anniv playlist (formerly known as Anniv Squad, if I recall). That would give us SOME way of playing Anniv on TU/Reach settings, and 4v4 is the most popular way to play Halo so it would make sense. I know it wasn’t the most popular playlist in its day but what’s important is honoring our purchases in some way, shape or form. What could it hurt?
So, 343, if you actually listen to the people that give you money and time (and not just your statistics), I urge you to be faithful to our purchases and bring back TU and Anniversary maps together in at least ONE playlist. Please?
