Here’s my situation: I have the limited edition of Halo 5 pre-ordered on Amazon, but I can’t afford to have it shipped quickly so I’ll probably get it sometime next week. I was wondering if there would be a way to download the patch before the disc arrived, so I could play Halo 5 as soon as I get it in the mail.

Yeah, your console won’t know to install the patch until the game’s been installed first. That’s one of the benefits of digital.
I think you can play campaign without the patch though, so you might be able to hold off and install the patch when you’re asleep or something once you get your campaign fix.
