343, in every Halo game we’ve seen Master Chief and other Spartans flip Warthogs, Tanks, and in Halo 3 a MP Spartan could lift an Elephant (205 Tonnes). So I’m asking you 343, not a fans opinion but 343 how much Weight can Master Chief lift? Do note that your answer will affect whether or not he can win fights against other gaming characters.
I think much of the “vehicle flipping” is pure gameplay mechanic.
Officially, the Spartan IIs were said to be able to lift 3 times their body weight without mjolnir armor. Mjolnir mk. V then doubles the users lifting power, allowing a Spartan to lift about 6 times their body weight.
The Chief weights 286.6 lbs. In Spartan armor, he could lift about 1719.6 lbs, give or take. The M808 MBT tank seen in the Halo games weights 66 tonnes, meaning the chief could never lift it. He couldn’t even lift a warthog (about 3 tonnes).

He can lift 780 Kilos. A tonne (or Metric Ton) is 1000 kilos.
Thank you.
Do you think they might retcon him to make him stronger?
Or do you think that his [mark VII] might make him stronger?

Mk VI likely increases his strength and so would mk VII, but I doubt they will retcon this stuff. The info was taken from “Fall of Reach” and the Halo encyclopedia. Considering the number of chances 343i has had to retcon the Chief’s strength, it’s unlikely to happen.
As Jack said, the vehicle flipping is mostly game mechanics.
Hopefully [Mark VII] will give him even more strength. It might tie in with destructible environments.
Let’s say, for the sake of debate, that Mk. VI increases the strength from Mk. V. Mk. V could allow a Spartan to lift 780, Mk. VI could allow up to, say, 850.
However, this still wouldn’t matter really, because flipping =/= lifting!
You’re only bearing a portion of the vehicles weight when you roll it over onto it’s proper side. I haven’t got any mathematics to back it up but it seems fairly obvious that it’s not the same as bearing the whole vehicles weight. So it’s perfectly canonical for a Spartan to be able to flip a Warthog, Mongoose, Banshee, Ghost or at the most, Prowler/Revenant/Spectre.
I feel it would take two or three Spartans to flip a Scorpion/Wraith.
And probably at least ten Spartans to flip an Elephant.
I’m fairly certain Chief flipped a warthog in The Flood.
It would take almost nothing for Chief to flip a Mongoose (400kg)

That book was so horribly written - I feel - that it wouldn’t surprise me. It seems Dietz just played through Combat Evolved and wrote what he saw/did. While reading that book, I often wonder if he had to edit out stuff like “Chief stared at the console a moment before pressing ‘X’ to activate it.”
It is stayed that he can lift 2 tons
Keep in mind that the stated amount he can lift is dead-lifting, and the measurements were taken when their augmentations were still fresh and they were still getting stronger. Sure he might not be able to hold a Warthog over his head, but he can certainly roll it back onto its wheels if it gets flipped.
