Can Halo 6 Save Halo?

Halo 3 was the pinnacle of gaming in the 360. With over 12 million copies sold, gamers around the world shared the journey of Master Chief and Cortana through an epic, new campaign. It also served as one of the high-points of the competitive aspect of first person-shooters. Will Halo 6, 343’s third game in the main-stream halo games, be able to return to its roots and deliver an experience like Halo 3’s? If there is one way Halo can return to the colossal influence it once was, there are several ways to do it. Some of the most key aspects of Halo need to be addressed, and return within Halo 6. Halo 3 delivered a campaign that took you through an emotional and intense adventure, featuring a variety of weapons, vehicles and enemies. Halo 6 needs to have a compelling campaign, one that draws you in and makes you feel attached to the characters. The campaign of halo 5 failed to do that. If 6 can deliver this great, mind-blowing campaign, Halo can return to what it once was. Furthermore, Halo needs the enemies that made fighting an alien threat fun. While the Prometheus are new and interesting, the repetitive fight scenes are monotonous and carried on longer than they need to be. The warden served as nothing but as a final boss to a linear campaign. While there’s nothing wrong with linear campaigns, the way Halo forces you to repeat the same fight over and over again was not fun to play. Additionally, the multiplayer has to be able to cater to both long time fans and new fans. Throwing away the values that made halo what it is, in favor of things like high fram rate and competitiveness are not what make a good halo game. To fix this issue, a no sprint playlist with class is maps should be implemented. Arena should remain separate in order to fill the needs of both the mlg and social players, as has been done in previous halo games. The multiplayer needs to see the return of a large swath of playlists at launch, playable elites (or brutes), a variety of weapons, UNSC air vehicles, developed maps, and so much more. If the customizable armor were unique and had more access to things like shoulders or gauntlets, thousands more would be happy. Halo 6 needs to return to its roots if Microsoft ever hopes to build its fan base up and make Halo what it used to be. The sad part is, a lot of this might not happen because Microsoft has only one true goal with halo now, to make money. Several of Halo 5’s problem might not even be due to 343’s incompetence, but the lack of funding by Microsoft. Why else would there be such limited playlist launch, and most maps forge-created? The developers of this game were cut funding after the crash of the MCC, and Halo fell from its platform. Halo can comeback if enough things change. But will it be able to?

honestly by save halo what do you mean yes halo 5"s campaign was not the best but halo 4 was a nice change with the deep character driven plot yes I understand it used lore most fans didn’t know. But it was a different studio making the game and they didn’t know the engine as well as bungie did, which is why the multiplayer wasn’t the best but, in halo 5 you can tell 343 is getting an understanding of the halo engine they just need to find a balance between their campaigns and bungie’s to please fans same with the multiplayer, while keeping the character driven story. And i know that halo wars 2 is not made by 343 but look at it like this it doesn’t use the new art style possibly hinting at a return to the original in halo 6 which would bring old fans back and with this new brute faction 343 might make a new complex story. So no Halo 6 will not save Halo. Halo does not need saving, Halo is and always will be the greatest shooter franchise out there despite the loss of players the Halo games are slowly returning to their former glory i predict not only will this new faction will be fun to fight but more fun that the original Covenant.

Halo 3 sold 12 million over the course of over eight years. Halo 5 sold over 5 million. Not bad for only having been released for about eight months. Halo is clearly not dead. I happened to like the game and it got good reviews by critics as well.

And paragraphs my friend. People are usually turned off of reading a wall of text.

Thanks for the feedback!

Now, don’t get me wrong I love Halo and all its glory. I’ve grown up with these games and i just want to see more people being able to enjoy the games like I did. Halo 5 has a fantastic multiplayer, and while it isn’t dead, the population of Halo has significantly decreased. There are more rumors about the fiasco that was the MCC and the story being re-written, go check out latenightgaming on youtube. He explains it a little better. To sum it up, most of the campaign changes and MCC crash was due to Microsoft pushing an earlier release (supposedly). Maybe Halo is suffering the same fate as Destiny did with Activision?

But anyways, i just want to see the return of the game I love to its former glory.

People need to take note that all vdeo game franchises are constantly evolving. While many complain about Halo 5 as “the worst halo evar!1!”, the gameplay has never been better. The weapon balance in Halo 2 and 3 was garbage, with the SMG/Pistol (Halo 2) and AR (Halo 3) having no real purpose when sided with the battle rifle. Fast forward to now, and while BR/Pistol is still the more common preference, the AR still has a strong use at it’s intended close-mid range. The SMG fits nicely at the point-blank to close range, even sometimes seeing effective use at mid-range in the right hands. While I definitely felt that Halo 5’s story was lacking (from a narrative standpoint), the gameplay has gotten better. We no longer see ridiculous glitches like the BXR or BXB, super jumping, rocket jumping, etc., not to mention no more cries from MLG gamers that gametypes MUST ONLY BE Battle Rifle starts (this got extremely annoying in the days of Halo 3).
