with big games like gears of war 4,battlefield 1,the new cod, mafia 3 ect.
unless 343 does something big I don’t see halo 5 surviving the fall.
what possible could keep halo 5 popular and what would you want added to halo 5?

I think some campaign DLC would be nice, though it’s unlikely to happen since Josh Holmes said it wasn’t on the table. Still, they’ve shown they can add new enemies to the game, they have a whole new threat lined up, they have numerous routes they could go, they could avoid having the story being told across various media and coming off as confusing to casual fans, and they have the funding to do it.
I wouldn’t even mind it if was paid.
I think Halo may see a dip in population, but I think it will overall do fine, especially since 343i has indicated they’ll continue dropping updates on occasion. Battlefield and CoD will likely be the major detractors from Halo, but in my experience, most people who will go to play those will continue to play Halo, simply not on as great a scale. As long as 343i continues to add fresh content (especially looking at game types), then they’ll do fine
Can’t wait for Battlefield. Halo will definitely be taking a backseat for that. For the topic, it will survive like it has in the past when other big games came out.
While I may be getting Gears of War 4, it’ll likely not take over my multiplayer gaming side of things. Plus, Battlefield 1 does not interest me in the slightest (I don’t care much for WW1/WW2/modern shooter settings), so there isn’t much on the multiplayer shooter market to detract me at the moment. That being said, Destiny : Rise of Iron is coming out in September, so that’ll be rather popular. But I see no reason why it can’t live alongside Halo, just like it does now for me.
I feel like Halo 5 will keep being healthy though, as it is now.
I think you meant to ask “who’s selling their Halo 5 for the upcoming games?”
Idk, maybe getting more people invested in the multiplayer with things like HCS.
I know, I know. You guys “hate” it (even though it does not affect you besides helping the population) but hear me out:
-more people being invested in it will just mean more people who watch and think, “today I could play the new title or hop back on halo and grind arena a little bit”
-more viewers means its higher on twitch which in turn means more NEW viewers or RETURNING viewers from older halos(like myself)
I play games once through for the campaign, I keep playing for the multiplayer. DLC campaign will do nothing to help attract and maintain a population in todays console climate. It attracts many of the remaining halo fans, but thats because that’s what you guys already want. If we want halo to grow again we’re going to have to focus resources into gaining interest and viewership.
Edit: there are is TON of room for improvement with HCS outside of the format:
-a fixed observer mode that actually shows where a reticule is
-a cleaned up, less broken theater mode
-LAN ffs!
Beyond that, open tournaments would go a loooooong way.

Why? Have they ever given a decent reason why they’re so against campaign add-ons?

I guess Spartan Ops wasn’t as big a hit as they hoped, but I’m not sure what they expected when they constantly reused campaign and multiplayer maps as “missions” that amounted to little more than kill enemies.
“These games will kill Halo” lol. Okay, bud.
Thing is, Halo is MY game… It’s what I like to play. The kind of gameplay I prefer… I will be playing well into next year, likely in some capacity until H6 comes out.
If there are many more people like me within the community, that love Halo, the H5 population will be fine. All of these upcoming games may be fun and great and everything, but Halo has always been the game I come back to… and I know there are others out there that feel the same way.
I DO think H5 will need some additional content down the line at some point, but overall we have a great game here to keep us busy for a while…
Yes I do think the population will dip, but I don’t think it will turn into anything too serious. We survived the launch of Overwatch didnt we?
Halo has always survived.

It’ll survive just fine.

hell no.
if halo would’ve been “dead” you wouldn’t write here,
'cause the forum would’ve be shut down long time ago.
Disregard.

Why, is it because of halo 4?

Yea but halo 5 is the lowest selling halo game to date. (Main halo title) and halo 5 only sees high pop. During the couple days the dlc is out. I live in central time and I have trouble finding people sometimes. Central time typically has the most people playing area wise. So I think halo 5 will definitely lose a lot of population. And I don’t think halo wars 2 will do much to boost halo hype.
