The new Spartan Abilities are quite fun and freshly mix up the Halo experience. However, think about it. You can ground pound in a completely different direction after hitting the peak of a man-canon slope, completely changing the direction the map intended you to land. Also, you’ll be traveling far faster than just letting the lift use gravity to drop you off. Think about the Halo 3 map Narrows. Imagine if you could’ve 'pounded to the mid-bridge from a man cannon. How could that work out with the flow of the map? I remember that gravity lifts and man-canons were risky in that someone could nade you where you land and because you were in a straight path that you couldn’t alter, and that sometimes they were the only option (making them exhilarating and pretty awesome). Now I know Halo 5 will have maps designed with this in mind, but I just think that it could mess with how predictable and smooth the man-canon experience should be. Thanks for reading, please share what you think. Will this kill man-canon flow or will it add a new dimension?
You stop moving when activating GP.
If you can use it off a man-cannon, you wouldn’t keep your momentum as you flew. If you were over a large gap and not over ground within the cone of possible impact, you will die.
Similar for auto-stabilizers. If you can activate them off a man-cannon shot, you’re going to stop where you are and you better have something to land on below.
Now, can we use it off of a man-cannon “jump”? Certainly can Thrusters, which can be “comboed” into a GP or hover. That is where the dynamic exists.

Thanks for the reply and information. I am aware of these points, however do you believe that both Ground Pound and mancanons can co-exist without ruining the flow of either? What I meant with Narrows was shooting up to the half-way point, stopping and aiming your GP to the mid-area, and crashing down there (something never before possible through any tactical jump). Instead of having the canons only being there for cross-mapping, they would be the fastest way to get to top mid.

You don’t instantly stop in place though, your momentum is just slowed. That’s why you see a lot of GP hovering in trick jump videos from the Beta because you could essentially glide a few feet before coming to a complete stop midair.
So it’s a matter of whether or not you’d slow your momentum at the same speed from a man cannon as that from a manual jump.
This is a good question. In Halo 4, you could use thrusters mid-man-canon launch, but it pretty much just acted as if we weren’t already traveling anywhere, i.e. canceled out the canon’s momentum.
So I’d assume so.
Although, is there fall damage in Halo 5? I assume there is as well (because Halo 4), so there must be a height from which you could die of ground pound.
Now I want to play around in Halo 5 forge: build the tallest structure, put a man canon on top, reach my peak altitude, then ground pound all the way down to see if the impact damages me at all.

Thanks for the reply, and I was thinking about the same exact thing about fall damage. Could Ground Pound possibly stop all fall damage? And I can imagine what type of mini-games will be made just based on your forge test haha.
Good question. Also, I thought about repeatedly GPing into a mancannon. Get sent up, and come back down.

Oh my goodness I didn’t even think about that. Could that work? I wonder…

If you believe, it will work.

Hallelujah
Has anyone even seen any mancannons in any footage yet?
Nice question. It’s something I have been questioning as well, and the ways the new abilities can be used to create wacky custom games.

Can’t wait to Ground Pound you in matchmaking as well!

Ahhh I am sorry that many people are going to report you now
Please, try to be more constructive. Why don’t you like ground pound and how does that have to do with this thread? Any opinions on how it flows with mancanons?

Thanks man!
Is it going to be something like that escalator in China that ate the lady? Because that would be hilarious.
