can elites be spartans too?

So we all know that in older halo games where there are playable elites, our space lizard friends trained alongside spartan III’s in war game simulations. So with that being said, can elites be spartans or be considered spartans too? This is a question I don’t think anyone has asked before, so I’m asking. What do you guys think?

Do you mean in terms of genetic modification for the elite race + a form of power armor, or do you mean “spartan” as in part of the spartan branch using human tactics and spartan ability(s)?

both, but mainly serving alongside human spartans

Yes, if the elites can get their act together both power armor and genetic modification are certainly possible… Although they will probably need help from the humans to advance their genetic manipulation ability. Armor would be a lesser issue. If the had engineers then it MIGHT happen.

The problem is elites really don’t NEED that stuff to be dominate on most battlefields. So i don’t really see it coming to that. The only reason the spartan program was developed was because of a “need” after all.

In terms of serving alongside humans…

Maybe in the future? We already see human and elite cooperation in non spartan programs decently… (albeit with lots of resentment), but the main problem is that the vast majority of Spartan’s have a lot of problems with elites. With the exception of (at least) Vale, I don’t really see a lot of humans being to… eager to welcome a elite into the spartan branch. Fighting beside them as allies is different though. Spartan(s) (IV’s) are usually professional enough to allow that to happen.

You can make an analogy of having having a bunch of Chinese soldiers joining an American unit right after the Korean war ended… Probably would not blow over to well. Not to mention the enormous tactical and cultural difference’s in their respective military’s. So I don’t see a vast amount of elites doing it. Maybe 1 or 2 special one’s that were raised by a human or were culturally assimilated, or maybe even Vale forming a spartan elite strike team…

But beyond that I really don’t see it happening.

I’m sure it would be possible to turn a Sangheili into a Spartan. They would have to make augmentations and mutations that work with their bodies rather then humans. I don’t think It would be easy but nothing really is. If the elites could survive and adapt to the augmentations then making a mjolnir suit would be the easy part. i do not think any Sangheili would really be interested in that though.

I’m not sure if this is right but here is how Ithink of it.
Human=Sangheili
Spartan=Elite

Does this make sense.

Blackskull what

I dont think Sangheili culture be very kind to any elites who received such enhancements as the spartans. The elites are more like the brutes than any of them would like to admit, the only main difference being a sense of honor. A brute (which again would probably not need it anyway) would certainly go for something like that if it saw a gain in it, but an elite would probably be shunned by his brethren or seen as a cheater or something along those lines.

Doesn’t really make sense because Elite is just a human colloquiallism for Sangheili in general.

Or even better question: Can spartans be elites?

And who is to say that if too many Sangheili don’t survive the augmentation process that they wouldn’t take it as an act of aggression?

Duuuuuudde imagine that combination! A Elite with spartan enhancements! They are already much larger than spartans so a spartan elite would be huge!!

What you got to realise is to most elites a spartan would be a fair fight…but against a normal human…would be like hunting a very slow rabbit.

cough cough cough SAY WHAT!

Surely the sangheili don’t need to be spartans, they are in some ways more superior. They are taller, have their own energy shields, possess better technology. The only downside is that sometimes they can be stupid and over confident, getting themselves killed.

The Elites are already big and strong enough. more so than Spartans. and they’re supposed to be like a alien parallel and counter to spartans (hence elites being playable in campaign and multiplayer in past games) and they played the same way as Spartans. So if they had physical enhancements they’d be way stronger than Spartans. And they’d have an unfair advantage over spartan players. it’d be better if they were just given armor with the same functions as spartan armor (thruster, ground pound, charge, revive players in campaign etc). That way they would play the same as Spartans and it would be balanced. so they should be elites still but with the same armor as spartans (same functionality)

I’d say that the Elites are basically equallivant to the Spartans.

I disagree. You’re average Sangheili is no match for a Spartan. No matter what generation (II, III & IV’s) Some of the Sangheili leadership as well as other top warriors do seem to bring a harder challenge for our soldiers and our Spartans.

Sure why not.

Isn’t there already a group of enhanced Elites? In one of the Evolutions stories, they are all grey sheen alloy with a red HUD visor. Just can’t put the name of the story at this time.

Also, in another story they have the Prelates, the SanShyuum genetically modified themselves, but not to the point of spartan enhancements. I believe I recall that m saying they based their science off of Forerunner genetics, which are totally different, to suit their Prelates. Covenant had the tech, just never implemented it on a broader scale.

You’re absolutely correct. The Spartan III headhunter team portrayed in “Headhunters” ran into a group of these “super elites.” There was also a story in Halo Fractures that talks about one of these prelates and his encounters with R’tas Vadum.
