This ban for leaving a game system confuses and frustrates me, and I’m sure I can’t be alone. Does anyone know what principals it possibly can function on? I’ve played 34 consecutive games (my last time leaving a match was on 3/14/16 and ive completed 91 out of my past 100 games), and I just left a game with terrible lag and got a ban. What kind of ineffective system is in place? Does anyone know what it actually takes into consideration? I used to leave games more frequently due to bad connections but after receiving multiple bans I stopped, and for the past 2 months I haven’t left many at all. Why does it act as if I’m leaving matches all the time? Does time and/or amount of games completed not have anything to do with the ban system?
Frequency of quits. That’s really it as far as I know.
I don’t see you not understanding it makes it ineffective, but oh well…

So you would say it’s an effective system, by banning someone who has completed 63 out of 70 matches over the course of over a month? My questions about how it functions clearly aren’t my argument for why it’s ineffective/unfair.

I would say its effective because with out it, way more people would be quitting.
I know, I was asking for your reasoning while tossing in some comedy. I gotta stop trying to make jokes on forums.
Anyways, I hope I helped answer your original question.

63 out of 70 games is a lot man. Even if it is over a month, you have left 10% of your game
I appreciate you trying to help, it does most definitely deter people from leaving but it shouldn’t effect those who try and play the game fairly. I also made a mistake - I’ve left 9 games out of the past 100… lol even more qustionable

It’s actually I’ve left 9 outta my past 100 games, which I think is acceptable including games where other people on the team leave or bad connection (because these servers amd matchmaking teams are by no means perfect). I would say completing 91 out of 100 games should count for more…

The system works by banning the quitting offender for consecutive quits.
The more the player get banned, the longer the duration.
The longer you go without quitting, the less likely you are to be banned for the occasional quit (and by occasion I mean 1/100 games) but the ban duration will never reset.
Honestly, I belive it to be a fair and balanced system. The only people who disagree are the ones spoiling matchmaking for everyone else with their quitting, so who cares. Right?
Consecutive quits includes 34 consecutive games completed, separating 2 quits over a period of 17 days?

Banhammer is strict. I will first say that if you have quitter on your team it is not a reason for you to leave as well. Don’t be that guy :). Bad connection it happens. It sucks but happens there is nothing you can do about it. But 9/100 is still close to 10% and it is in my opinion kinda high percentage.
I’m not sure how the system though. I can just tell you to be careful for the next month and try not to leave match because the next ban is always worst than the previous one…
Sometimes games where you stay count as quits.
Retreving data is your worst enemy.

Of course you think it should count for more, you’re in that situation haha
I dunno, people don’t realize how strict it is until it hits them.

Well yeah but if I read someone give a similar statistic I would still think it is a bit too much. Time clearly makes no difference in it, so I’m wondering if it’s frequency (regardless of how frequent)

I’ve heard time does play a factor. Like a cooldown timer, but I’m not 100% sure on that. I think I’ve quit less than 5 times in over 500 games, so I’ve never seen a ban.
Yeah I think I need to be more patient and okay with games occasionally not working very well, or just lower my expectations lol
Being as objective as possible, the ban hammer is meant to act as a deterrent to keep players from quitting their games. For social game types, I think this is stupid, but in ranked game types where there is no Join in Progress, this is of the utmost importance. Why, because it is not fair to other players to have a team that is uneven and short one or more players to compete against a full team. It ruins the experience. That is why they feel there is a need for a deterrent: to maintain the best Multiplayer Experience Possible. Unfortunately, the system is not omniscient or infallible.
Now my suggestion to you is just my opinion so take it with a grain of salt, but, do not quit, unless you have to.
