Can a title update really do the trick?

Can a title update, or even a number of title updates, fix the immense amounts of issues that halo 4 has? For example, could a title update have the capability of adding the feature of getting shot out of scope, and taking out flinch? How much can a title update really change or effect besides nerfs/buffs?

With the way Halo 4 was built, I believe this would be possible, yes.

Yes, but to launch a TU literally costs thousands in a payment to Microsoft.

Dear God…Why?!

Bandwidth costs, I’d imagine. The updates are hosted and seeded from -Yoink!-'s end.

u realize its microsofts game right

343 basically is Microsoft, so there paying themselves?

There is nothing wrong with Halo 4. Everything works as 343i intended them to.

Don’t no how much can be fixed by a TU, but like others said, TU’s cost around $20,000 a pop, and I don’t think Microsft would be to keen on this. They already have our money don’t they?

EDIT: Damn it, it knew somebody would say it!

I think they could implement some quite drastic changes through title updates, but I can’t help but doubt they would unless the population declined dramatically or something. I imagine 343 will look at things in the ‘working as intended’ view and will simply disregard most glitches like they don’t exist.

IIRC, Microsoft allows developers to release one patch for free, with each patch after that costing the developer $40,000 to cover things like re-certifying the game and bandwidth. Microsoft are quite strict with quality assurance and try to push for games to be as polished as possible, so the high price seems to be to try and put off developers from pumping out games that require excessive patching.

Since 343 is part of Microsoft i’m not sure how this stuff would apply, though. Microsoft charging 343 for a H4 patch would essentially be Microsoft charging themselves.

Yes actually, each department has a budget, so when one department needs something it could very well end up having to pay a different department for it.

The only current problems with the game to me are the few things that are literally broken, like kill cams, the file browser, it starting games with only one team or unbalanced teams and throwing people into in-progress games that are almost over. Earlier today in put me into an Oddball game that lasted about 7 more seconds after I spawned and my team had 2 people (I was the third) and no points at all.

Then I guess they shouldn’t have rushed Halo 4 to be released before Blops 2, eh?

Absolutely. If not then the mistakes 343i made where more serious then anyone figured.

I really wish H4 they didn’t. H4 could have really done with at least a few extra months development time to iron out bugs and generally polish the game more.

Right now it feels as though the game is still in beta.

the gameplay is good, hell the game is good, but the lag, the backup servers… damn… this makes anyone mad.

i liked the weapons balance, hated the flinch but i believe i can get use to it.

disliked carnage report and medals…

so i guess the major changes should not be in the gameplay, but with the servers and quality of the connection.

my other games doesnt lag like halo 4 does.

I agree.

Never had as much fun with a Halo game online as I am with Halo 4.

The complaining is unjust and just petty.

Indeed it does. So many bugs and glitches. The DMR and the Boltshot are problems in themselves. Hopefully this game can be revived with a game-saving TU.

Righteous blind Halo fanboys detected.

OR…They just don’t know what they’re talking about.
