Would a moderator be ever so kind as to confirm that spawn camping in Grifball for a extended duration of time is cheating. You don’t know the amount of people that tell me it’s a 100% legit strategy to camp the other team spawn and insta kill them so they can’t do anything and that the team camping gets an almost insta win.
I’m not a moderator, but I’m a day one player of Reach and assure you it’s not cheating; if a team of four gets your team in that position then you all deserve it. That is the way the spawns are designed in that playlist. Why anyone plays griffball is beyond me, it’s no fun at all - my advice to you is to avoid it like the plague that it is.
Yh I don’t play grifball for that reason. It’s not h3 grifball. So play a different playlist

Ask Snickerdoodle . She loves to play Grifball from what I understand and the last time I checked, she was also involved with the AGLA

Definitely is considered cheating. its not your fault when a team of four starts camping you because the situation usually happens after 1 or 2 people on your team leave. OR when 7 of the 8 players in the game spawn camp you. You’re the type of problem if you spawn camp individuals in grifball.
If you’re concerned about teammates quitting then go in as a full team; that goes for any playlist which is not FFA. As for it being considered cheating, again, the designers of the gametype felt that those spawn points were fair and as such, players shouldnt be punished for taking advantage of that design flaw. I only rarely play the playlist and if I do it’s only to complete a daily or weekly challenge, I never go into griffball with a full team because as I said in a previous post, it is simply no fun at all. I strongly suggest finding other more enjoyable playlists, there are plenty to choose from.

Talking with Community Engineer Cizlin it is considered cheating along some lines through LIVE Code of Conduct as it violates it. Using this to win is not cheating, (Doing it for a couple of seconds to score the objective is strategy, but doing it for extended durations is looked at negatively for obvious reasons), the point of this objective gametype. If you are reported by enough people using LIVE’s Report Feature for doing so (Cheating via boosting), you can earn yourself a ban due to violating Code of Conduct.
How it is cheating is when people spawncampkill for the sake of raising their K/D ratio (Statpadding), boosting their cR and commedations. Reason being is that in this fashion, the spawn system in an objective based gametype is being exploited in a fashion that was not intended to raise your cR, K/D, and Commedations swiftly in a fashion otherwise not possible and not intended, it is cheating. Boosting, which is what is being done as described is cheating through exploiting a potential vulnerability in the poor spawn map setup that allows this in the objective based gametype. After all, Grifball is an objective based gametype. If you can score the objective, then why wouldn’t you
.
Doing this also degrades the gameplay quality of Xbox LIVE for others and is considered griefing the game (As well as doing this for the sake of upsetting and trolling others), which is also against LIVE Code of Conduct.
From LIVE Code of Conduct:
-For Cheating
Don’t cheat or tamper. For example, don’t:
-
Exploit game vulnerabilities or glitches-For Griefing
Don’t harm Microsoft, Xbox Live, or another person’s device. For example, don’t: - Interfere with Xbox LiveWhen Code of Conduct was broken down into sections, Section F covered this in more detail, which this is from it:
F. Cheating & Tampering
- Do not cheat in a game unless the developer has deliberately enabled cheats. - Do not take any action to cause degradation of service for Microsoft or other users, including but not limited to network interference or manipulation. This in itself covers both Griefing and Cheating if you add the items above. Exploiting the spawn system in Grifball instead of scoring the objective for the sake of boosting instead of playing the objective based gametype the way it was designed to be played by the developer to score the objective is indeed cheating as well as griefing, and can be punishable with a ban if people doing so are reported by enough people who use LIVE’s services via Report feature.

Sure thing. Don’t forget to thank Cizlin as well

I still heartily disagree that it’s cheating. IMHO people that play that playlist deserve what they get. If you still for whatever reason play it and get stuck in that situation, just quit the game…the banhammer will only swing if you do it repeatedly in a fairly short period of time.
Following the “not doing the objective logic”, can everyone that just goes for kills in objective game types in other playlists be reported for cheating as well? I encounter this frequently in rumble and multi, if this is a bannable offense please let me know. After all, those players could be trying to win the game instead of statpadding.

We’re talking about spawn killing and camping the enemy team spawns. That should be a bannable offense if you intentionally make the game last longer. If you do it to score really quickly to get a quick win then it’s fine, that’s why Grifball was made that way, it wasn’t made that way so you could purposely extend the timer. If you are making the game last longer than it should you’re intentionally trying to boost something whether it’s daily, weekly challenges, or statpad boosting which boosting is a bannable offense as well. If you ever looked at the Why Did I Get Banned thread you can see all the reasons why you can get banned. I will list them below for you to see.
Types of violation include, but are not limited to, the following example actions:• Manipulating network conditions to give yourself an advantage, or to the detriment of the experience for other players.
• Modifying your Xbox 360 hardware or game software and services in any way.
• Skill, EXP, or Credit Boosting, deleveling, idling through games, cheating, habitual quitting or any other type of unsociable and unsportsmanlike behavior.
• Impersonating a Bungie, 343, or Microsoft employee on Xbox LIVE with intent to defraud or cause harm to other players
See what I’m saying?
Extending the timer to boost is bannable.
Spawn camping to extend the match longer than it needs to is a form of unsportsmanlike behavior which is bannable.
Don’t believe me go check the thread yourself.

Basically this, if you spawncampkill for a couple seconds to actually score the objective, then it’s strategy and it is legit. However doing so repeatedly to statpad your K/D (Which is blatently obvious when you have a 15+/1 ratio which screams out unsporting behaviour and cheating), boost cR, and commedations is cheating. Talk to any member of the AGLA about this and they will say the same thing. I tend to remember Halo 5 having a similar issue with Warzone and Achielles armor, which 343i seen the farming instead of scoring the objective as boosting, hence cheating. It’s the same principal here with Reach’s Grifball. It’s essentially farming of cR.
Peace Matches are a clear exploitation of the Performance Bonus System to boost cR by not playing the match, but sitting around idling, which once again, boosting is cheating, so that is self explanatory. Two wrongs with peace games, Idling and Boosting, three if people spawncampkill those who actually try to play the gametype the way it was meant to be played due to griefing the game and statpadding, which is boosting, which is cheating.

Intentionally not following the objective and instead killing for the sake of statpadding is unsporting, and is considered a form of boosting. Boosting is cheating, so yes actually. CTF and Grifball seem to be the big gametypes where people do this.
For a real example, I actually had a game on Halo 4 on Simplex a while back where the entire opposing team scored four of the five flags as they should have, then one got the flag again to use the flagnum, and the other four used BRs. For eight and a half minutes, they spawncampkilled us. Basically one would spawn in, all five would headshot, quick reload, rinse and repeat. Those people used CTF to stadpad by exploiting the poor spawn system on the map, and in doing so they cheated and they were reported for doing so. Here’s the match if you don’t believe me (Click Meh!)
So as a fabricated example here, let’s say you’re trying to play for the objective in a gametype and you have a teammate who is sniping for the sake of kills (Not to defend you, you can tell the difference) and your team loses due to it with him being 19-2 while the rest of your team couldn’t score the objective due to him not exactly helping, yeah he can be reported. He used the gametype to obviously boost and ruined your gameplay experience in doing so, both of which violate LIVE Code of Conduct.
It’s not cheating, but it’s cheap.
> 2533274887841772;13:
> It’s not cheating, but it’s cheap.
Any form of boosting is cheating and is bannable. Boosting involves exploiting some aspect of the game not intended by the developers for personal gain to allow either easier unlocking (Such as achievements, armor, weapon skins, emblems, etc.), or allow growth of EXP, Rank, Skill, cR, Commedations, and/or other stats at such a fast pace that would otherwise not be possible through normal and legitimate gameplay.
This is seen by 343i as cheating and due to that, it violates Code of Conduct when players do so. They stepped in when people were doing this on Halo 5 via farming to boost commedations for Achielles Armor, and the only reason why they do not step in and remove/modify aspects of Grifball on Reach is likely because it is a seven year old game and they really do not profit from it, but that is why LIVE’s Report feature exists. Using Reach’s Grifball as such as also seen as cheating by the AGLA and they tend to use the terminology ‘statpadding’ for it.

Trolling the people who boost, peace match, camp, and do other exploits is always fun to do. lol
from my experience it can be quite easy to take out a team of four in griffball if you hold your right joystick to the left and hit jump you can escape buuuttt its hard to do this if the spawn-campers are extremely precise on hits.my suggestion either
A: Don’t play the game type or
B: try to improve strategies to -Yoink-.
i hope this can help with anyone who gets spawn-camped.
Also this is a thing that pretty much cant be solved at this point…

This and only this. Why they left this joke of a playlist in and removed the DLC playlists and action sack is far beyond my level of comprehension. People like me that bought all the extra maps are left in the dust while boosters and cheaters are allowed to have a field day in this worthless playlist. I’m pretty sure I’ve only played at maximum three games of rumble/multi in the past two years on a DLC map and they were anniversary at that. Mario kart on timberland/breakpoint/tempest was always a refreshing change of pace from hemorrhage and the very rare RHR on paradiso

Thanks for posting that and confirming my thoughts, doncut and lizking. Following that logic I can report about 75% of the opposing players I encounter in those two playlists, though I save that for the most egregious offenders. Such as the kid that lost my buddy and me a game of Mario kart on hemorrhage this past weekend by repeatedly shooting our kart and driving it away from the destination when he got the opportunity to drive.

so you didnt even quote my other stuff just this single part not the part i said to make/improve strategies to counter this.
