Can A (Minor) Change Made Be Made To Ranked Maps?

Can we get different equipment / power weapons on the maps?

For example, in streets, rotate out drop wall & thrusters with repulsor & grappleshot - and instead of the power weapon always being rockets, rotate it out with Cindershot or even a gravity hammer.

Have some combo of all of these rotating randomly (for all maps and their respective items/weapons) - it’ll help spice things up a bit.

not a fan of random rotations. if anything i wouldd like it to have different power weapons for each mode, whatever power wweapons/equipment hellp a mode flow better…

Something other then, say, Rockets on Streets. A Sword could be a big game changer and force people to change their strats, perhaps. Just something a little different…

This is a great idea. In h5, there would be different power ups and such between ranked slayer, the hcs playlist, doubles for example where like sometimes OS would be swapped out for camo. I really liked that about 5. When h5 had he 1v1 playlist called head to head i think it was called…the power up for that was an actual limited time Radar. How awesome is that? Would be so sick if infinite had a 1v1 playlist with maps specifically made for 1v1 just how 5 did it. (I know that last bit was a bit off topic, but just felt like mentioning it. I wish this game had more ranked modes man. )

I have a major issue with this entire post in general, because it’s asking for rotating/random spawns. This is not what Arena shooters are about.

You don’t design a map to have rotating pieces to “keep the game fresh”, especially for competitive. You give the players a set of maps to memorize, practice, formulate strategies around.

The thing truly reflective of player skill in Arena shooters is not reacting to the randomly generated pieces of a map, but how your opponent is performing. You are here to compete, your team vs an opponent team, against each other, reacting to how each other perform. You’re not here to react to the map randomly deciding “okay for this map, I’m gonna spawn a Repulsor instead of a Dynamo”

Just look at other competitive games and shooters:
CS never randomly generate their maps
Valorant never randomly generate their maps
Apex randomly generate their content but it’s a BR, so hardly even the same sort of game
LoL doesn’t randomly generate their maps per match
DotA2 doesn’t either
SC2, SCBW never does this either

It’s not like we’re redesigning maps here. Just spicing things up a bit so it’s not the same old each time.

That’s what you don’t seem to understand: There isn’t a need to spice things up, there isn’t a need to randomize weapon spawns and interactables.

I’ve literally listed off examples of competitive, and may I add successful, games and shooters which feature no random changes to the map itself because that’s not what competition is about.

Competition is about pitting teams against each other and making them perform and compete by reacting to each other, not reacting to whether or not the bloody map decides to spawn X item for the current match.

That’s why there is pushback to random racks, that’s why there’s so much hate for drop pods, that’s why there is so much desire for 343 to remove randomized racks and spawns.

And here comes you, asking 343 to randomize even more variables. For RANKED no less. You serious bro?

Agree. For example, a Strongholds match on Streets leaves the team who miss out the Rocket spawn at the mercy of the one who controls it, because the zones are all deathtraps for Rockets to blast.

Swap that out for Sword for example, and you have a more suitable weapon for controlling a zone, yet not so strong as to utterly deny the opposing team.

Generally, I prefer more variety but when it comes to Ranked or Competitive gameplay, the gameplay has to be something that everyone can practice and understand. If the spawns/weapon racks flip flop every match like in Social, then Ranked gameplay would become much more chaotic and inconsistent like it is in Social playlists.

The whole point of Ranked playlists is mastering the “Arena”, and beating your opponents in that specific Arena. You can’t properly master the Arena if it is constantly changing every game. Think of it like this… In Sports, like Basketball or Baseball, they might travel across a country and change venues each night, but every court or field is the same, every referee and official follow the same rules, every player has to use the same arenas, tools and skills to achieve victory.

Changes that need to be made first is specific maps could run great on other game modes within rank and yet we don’t have them.
I rarely ever play any other game mode besides Oddball and Strongholds, Recharge and Live Fire.
Which are my two least favorite maps, reasons being spawning on the start of each map isn’t fair advantage. Technically Streets also doesn’t have fair advantage spawning but I personally like this map more. Very open spawning with not enough cover to get to that want lead to wall grenading.
Catalyst is great, the flow, and the coverage yes there’s wall grenading in every halo but the different curves with only two-three points of attack makes it nice.

I hate Random Selection on Weapons, Equipment, and Grenades. I want more weapons for sure and I wouldn’t want the same weapons over and over again. So I understand how you feel but I’m not sure how to implement it.
