Can 343 gaming not shut down the servers

It’s almost been a decade since the last Halo game came out for the 360. I don’t know how many people are playing the original versions of the games, but it’s probably not enough to keep the servers running into the new generation.

Shut the servers down. Hopefully the population on those games go to MCC.

It would be nice but it wouldn’t be worth it in the long run, but we still have till December

Justified? Thousands of people, who are now unemployed in a pandemic cannot afford new xbox 1’s, controllers, new games, headset, all that jazz. That costs money for non wealthy people… There is no justification for turning the servers off, its truly sad and disgraceful and i hope they will do the right thing here

> Halo 3 itself has been online for 14 years this year which is impressive, but with fewer and fewer players playing these titles online, the justification to keep servers online just isn’t there.

The justification is of course there to fix the servers and i hope they will do the right thing in the end… I know many sad people right now who do not have the money to afford a new xbox 1, and a new game, a new headset, controllers, etc… I myself have xbox 1 and i still enjoy classic reach as well as play mcc sometimes. Many of my friends who only have Xbox 360s will simply have their games and play ability taken away from them, as they cannot afford new xbox’s now… They paid for xbox 360, they paid for reach, they paid for xbox live, controllers, headsets, and now they wont be able to play because they wont update our server the fans paid for? Where is the justice in that?

dudes that don’t even play these legacy titles in here talking about the servers need to be shut down. gtfoh.

Please don’t use Covid-19 as an excuse. They might not be able to afford all that stuff now, but as the Xbox One came out about seven years ago, chances are they already have one. If people are still playing on a console from two generations ago, a console that saw a final release nearly a decade ago when Halo 4 was released, then that is hardly Microsoft’s/343i’s problem. From a business standpoint, it doesn’t make sense.

I look forward to joining some friends of mine over the summer for one final hoorah on the legacy titles. I am very happy 343 gave us the advanced heads up and allowed us some chance to get some closure in the process.

Yeah it would of been sad if they did it out of no where so it’s really nice to be able to play

But is anyone else having server issues

I still am but we are being assured its temporary and they won’t be taken down without prior notice which is nice.

It’s honestly time to move on…

So do I, I hope the servers can stay in good condition until the end of the year. I am really looking forward to jumping back on in the summer.

The MCC does not have all of the features that both Halo 3 and defiantly Reach have. The Credit System, Commendations, UI, and Map Veto just to name a few. Although I enjoy the MCC to this day it still does not live up to what 343 promised. Which was the ability to play these games as they launched. And who wants to unlock things through a battle pass? Battle passes are so lame compared to previous forms of progression.

The timing for shutting these servers down is no coincidence. Every time 343i releases a trash Halo game what happens? People return to Halo 3 and Halo Reach. It happened with Halo 4, MCC, and Halo 5. Halo infinite is supposed to release this November while the servers -Yoink- down in December. HMMMM seems a little suspicious.

It’s a really sad fact and I’d love if they didn’t have to but I can almost guarantee it’s a Microsoft move and it eventually was going to happen. At least MCC exists so the games can still technically live a lot longer life especially with it now on pc. It’s also at least not going to be a Halo 2 og Xbox situation where there was really no alternative at the time when those servers shut down.

Something I haven’t really found a solid answer to though is that people may still be able to connect online in custom games and in online campaign as those don’t run on the servers as that is straight peer to peer connection and it’s only going to be the official multiplayer itself that’s shut off, as that’s the only thing running on the servers. If someone can actually confirm that for me that would be really appreciated as I’m not 100% sure if that’s the case.

To be honest the framerate boost, FOV support, dedicated servers, and convenience of being able to play all the games at once dwarfs those changes for me. I actually really like the BP system they’ve implemented too. I’m really excited for the 120fps update, it blows my mind that people are able to play these games at sub 30fps these days. I couldn’t do it.

It blows my mind how people think battle passes are actually good. But no I’ll take classic Halo over MCC any day. I enjoy playing Halo with all of its features and not a jumbled mess with a battle pass that only proves that 343i cant help but to follow trends because they are creatively bankrupt.

It’s just the MCC bp system that I like because you don’t have to pay for it, you get new stuff every season, and the content stays as opposed to something like a Fortnite or Apex bp to be clear. I get why you’d prefer a credits system though, I’d honestly be fine if they used that instead it’s not that big of a deal to me. On the other stuff though I guess we just have different priorities, to each their own.

MCC BP system is leaps and bounds better than any other I have seen. That being said I prefer the older progression systems as well, if BP is here to stay thats fine but it need to not devolve to the other systems you mentioned, and frankly now that the old systems are getting sunset I would love to have more of the old features and service records finally linked although I do know that is a very big ask.
